Afghan police officer kills 2 U.S. troops, military says

A uniformed Afghan police officer turned his weapon on U.S. forces in Farah province Friday, killing two of them before being shot and killed himself, a U.S. military statement said.

The killings are the latest in a series of assaults this year carried out by Afghans clad in security force uniforms.

This attack also follows a Thursday statement by the Taliban's elusive leader boasting that fighters are infiltrating Afghanistan's security forces. The statement said fighters are attacking NATO-led forces on their bases, according to a statement purported to be from Mullah Mohammed Omar.

Didn't we learn anything from the Soviets.... at least they were smart enough to pull out. But we don't ever seem to learn or read a history book. There is no 'winning' in this 'war'. Bring our men and women home.

I'm Canadian and when I was serving in the Canadian Army (yes, we actually do have an army 😉 ) as a junior Infantry Officer, I met a lot of guys that were vets tours of multiple Op Rotos (deployments rotations) to Afghanistan or about to deploy on another Op Roto. The general consensus amongst ANYONE that served in Afghanistan was that there was an INTENSE distrust of the Afghan police and Afghan National Army because of incidents where the Afghan "police" or "troops" would open fire on NATO forces or hurl grenades at or perform suicide attacks on friendlies. It was more or less seen that the Afghans in uniform could go either way: they were either the enemy in the uniform or they were actually doing a job ranging from laughable to effective fighting for the good guys. Shame I got injured bad before I could go over and see what the troops, my superiors and especially my buddies were talking about, not to mention serve with all of them.

Sounds to me like the Afghans are ready and lying to say they are not, time to do a massive withdrawal. I agree with
    Go for it.

Please don't pull out from Afghanistan. If you are not prepare for sacrifices then don't jump into the war. Americans are far too stupid than USSR. Stay in Afghanistan & wait to be killed, at least US can save money, these soldiers are burden on US economy.

Just another example of why we should GET OUT! YES, this is a non-winalbe situation and I am pretty sure our "leaders?" know it! However, you have the MIC and other companies making tons of $$$, and putting $$$ in our "leaders" pockets to keep it going! Our brave and courageous military ARE doing their job, but are no more than cannon fodder for political and monetary reasons. WE cannot, and will not, change these people. Killing each other, for them, is a NORMAL daily activity. While their leaders yell about getting us out they do not hesitate to take our money and put it in their pockets!!!! I would say to pull everyone out, immediately and let God sort it out, BUT, their religion teaches that killing each other, men, women, children, is OK. How do you put a stop to that?
