Horror stories abound from Syrian city of Daraya

It's been a shocking few days in the Syrian civil war, with hundreds of bodies reportedly found in Daraya and with the country's vice president - who had allegedly defected in recent days - suddenly showing up at an official meeting in Damascus.

Here are some of the other latest key developments in the 17-month bloody conflict:

The greatest tales of terror now come from the city of Daraya, where an opposition group said more than 245 bodies were found in the past two days.

Opposition activists posted video of mass burials Sunday, a day after 200 people were found dead in the Damascus suburb.

It was unclear when those people had been killed. Opposition activists say government troops reclaimed Daraya after a week-long siege that was followed by scores of summary executions.

    Bla bla bla. Let's report on a country falling apart everyday while ignoring the same thing that's happening in America. Nobody cares about Syria! Get over it CNN and lets focus on unemployment and the blood suckers that are sucking this country dry. Not to worry folks. Your check is coming on the first...

    The problem in Syria and America have nothing in common about those what they called "bloodsuckers". Let CNN decide what to publish, learn how to use cathegories upon inquiring news. Do not use WORLD EVENTS when you are looking for POLITICS. Whats with "blah blah"to sound the information is stupid?

    @Banasy, nobody dies? Are you sure about that?

    In Chicago alone, with 294 killed through June and so far 37 killed in July, ten last weekend, the murders have outpaced killings of all US forces in Afghanistan. What I got from Jay Jay's comment, that this country is falling apart, is that we are in a sort of violent civil war, although the media won't call it that. At least in Syria there are sides.

    By the way, St Louis is even more violent than Chicago. Eighteen year old Megan Boken, the volleyball player, being shot is "Nobody dies"?

      I am from Chicago; I am well aware about the violence there.

      And there certainly *no* civil war going on in the United States; anyone wishing there were one, especially over food stamps, et al, needs to examine their values and priorities, Seriously.
      Yes.
      "Nobody dies" from accepting welfare.

    Sigh,
    "Opposition activists"? 🙂 🙂 🙂 What happened to the "Free Syrian Army"? I can see them in the back rooms now. "Reminds me too much of PLO, lets go with Muslim Brotherhood and whats your favorite season? Yea! Lets go with Spring! It's Monday but I've been thinking all weekend about this! Let's call it Opposition Activist's! (meeting room) YEA! Who's turn is it to get Starbucks?" 🙂 I crack me up.
    Google Brandon Raub please. 🙂

    @Kenney, fifty three percent vote for BO when it is obvious a mile out that a Keynesian community organizer will do nothing positive for a capitalist economy? Any knowledgeable person could see redistributive spending and croney capitalism to green energy and union pet projects would not work. Then who is to blame? Jay jay? He didn't do that. I have compassion for the retiree if he did not vote for BO. If he did vote for BO, he voted for his own misery. You make your bed, you lie in it.

    Its now known that German army is directly aiding the "opposition Activists" (read mercenaries, exiled extremist orgs, elements of Al-Oaeda etc) and that CIA recently supplied them with 14 Stinger missiles partly funded by S.Arabia thru Turkey.

    Ignorance laced and driven by hate is destructive for the person who harbors this concoction.
    Had you traveled to the M.East before we took it upon ourselves to tear it apart beginning much before 9/11, you would swallow your comments and follow Mark Twain. Who admitted to prejudice, bigotry and ignorance and said " travel is the enemy of ignorance, bigotry and prejudice'.

    Assads attack against his own nation and its' people is a crime against all humanity. The Hague is busy counting his money while the children cry, deep inside, afraid to make a single peep, sigh, wimper. All we can do is pray that God softens Assads heart, opens his eyes and comes to know their suffering. Soften it, to come to kmow that one can't beat his people and expect them to love him. Violence begets violence.

    Through the Christ, we pray;
    Amen

    middle east was a great place to live and work. Westerners flocked to places like Iraq, Syria, Bahrain,Lebanon, Dubai,Abu Dhabi, S.Arabia etc and had a life they couldn't dream of in their own country. Even now if you visit Dubai you see that.
    Hospitable, friendly people, sun all year round, great food , shopping and sight seeing.

    @jayjay:

    While I agree we need to do more to solve our own problems, one has to take into account that these are the actions of one man. Assad has murdered over 20,000 people and has left over 200,000 people homeless. Random acts of violence doesn't come close to the suffering Assad has caused.

    Bless~

      Hope,
      One man? Assad? Please read and look for other news sources than the MSM outlets you seem to get all of your info from. I don't mean left/right sources I mean alternative news sources that are free to report the truth and not bound or censored as all of the major media outlets here in America are. If you do not wish to do this then you are willingly being propagandized.
