Monday's live events

Tropical Storm Isaac could make an impact on the U.S. Gulf Coast in the coming days.  Watch CNN.com Live for continuing coverage of the storm.

Today's programming highlights...

Ongoing coverage - Tropical Storm Isaac tracker

12:00 pm ET - Alabama, Florida briefings on Isaac - The governors of Alabama and Florida will hold separate briefings on Tropical Storm Isaac.  For Alabama, the briefing will focus on the state's preparations for the storm, while Florida's will focus on Isaac's impact.

1:00 pm ET - New Orleans mayor talks Isaac - There are growing concerns that Tropical Storm Isaac could follow the same path that Hurricane Katrina did seven years ago, meaning New Orleans could face the wrath of another powerful storm.  Mayor Mitch Landrieu will address the situation.

2:00 pm ET - Republican National Convention begins - Today's convention activity will be brief, as most of Monday's planned schedule was postponed or canceled due to Isaac.  RNC Chairman Reince Priebus will formally open the convention in what's expected to be a 10-minute session.

That explains his absense. And tori is in tampa right? Hopefully people in the south have learned from katrina and leave the area. Material objects can be replaced, human life cannot.

thanx for the invite buttah imma watching it go down on the weather channel...it's fun watching them feign rain with bucket wet jackets and feign high winds with their staggering death sways when grains of sand lay still on the ground and screaming in the mic when there's no obvious howling of the winds...

Good afternoon Chrissy, banasy, and saywhat. I feel guilty as our weather here is perfect. For once I'm not complaining. Yes the kid evacuated out of New Orleans with her dad's family and they ended up in the Raleigh area. They had a hard time convincing my ex MIL to leave NO but they were successful.I hope our @bc is okay. He's been through the drill I'm sure many times. @Kenny Rogers, how can a master troll have a troll?
