Hantavirus warnings sent to Yosemite visitors from 39 other countries

Health officials said Wednesday that they've sent warnings to Yosemite National Park visitors from 39 other countries about a potentially deadly hantavirus uncovered at some of the park's cabins this summer.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said up to 10,000 people were at risk, after estimating the number of friends and family members of those who stayed with visitors who booked reservations at the cabins.

"All guests who made reservations to stay in the 'Signature Tent Cabins' from June 10 through August 24, 2012 (approximately 2,900 persons) were emailed or mailed a health advisory urging them to seek immediate medical attention if they or other persons in their party exhibit symptoms of HPS," or hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, the CDC reported last week.

Hantavirus is caused by contact with rodent droppings. Stop being a hysteric.

The only thing common between Ebola and hantavirus is they are both viruses. Mice and field rodents are primary vectors of the hantavirus. Bats who drop half eaten fruit which is consumed by other jungle primates is a primary method that Ebola is spread. Humans enter the chain by handling or touching the feces or the dead primate or rodent.

Well God was in the platform when Mr. Bush was President and all we got was 9/11, two wars, over 5000 war dead, a housing meltdown, a recession, a financial crisis, and Katrina. Just be careful what you wish for.

Report to a hospital if you show symptoms? I would think by the time your eyeballs are bleeding it's too late.

Yes except the FOUNDING FATHERS didn't even print the words "god' on our money. It wasn't even until 1956 because of the fight against soviets and the fear of "big red" that it was printed in a time when church actually had power in this country. I'm sorry, but the only people to follow are the founding fathers. They were true leaders, not business men acting as leaders "BIG DIFFERENCE." And they were very religious, but still created separation of church and state. And it sounds like you just want to vote for him because he had kids (which politician is a bachelor at that level)? I also wouldn't say he has great morals as he is no different then any other business man I deal with. Look at the overseas sales and all the other things that I know a true leader wouldn't do. He's a puppet like the rest, whoever you pick won't be like any of the 52 founding fathers, JFK, Jackson, TDR, or Grant. Whoever you pick will just be another Carter, Bush, or Clinton. Enjoy!

I live about 10 miles outside Yosemite. During the summer months, the area gets crowded with foreign tourists. You can go to the store and easily find groups not speaking English. Not really shocked about this at all. I've known this would happen for years.

Actually, Obama has worked harder to make the US more secure than any other president since Reagan.
    1. He ordered marines to fire upon and kill Somali pirates that had captured a ship's American captain (instead of ransom)
    2. He ordered SEALs into Pakistan (whose borders Bush would not cross chasing Bin Laden) to kill Bin Laden
    3. He support the Libyan rebels against Gaddafi
    4. He's shown support for Isreal as well as Palestinian justice – which will help the cause of peace much more than one-sided support of Isreal
    5. His administration is working with the Pentagon to move toward a more effective, responsive military posture (read more airpower – less troops on the ground) – even though some pork barrel senator keep pushing to add tanks that no one needs or wants.
In short, if the only issue were national defense, I'd vote Obama on a proven track record in a second. Unfortunately, I'm unsure how well his policies fare with respect to the economy. But then I'm not sure I trust Romney either.
