U.S. amps up hunt for killers of ambassador, other Americans in Libya

The hunt for those who killed U.S. diplomatic staffers in Libya will include warships and surveillance drones as outraged Americans and Libyans deplore the violent killings.

The slain U.S. ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, helped save Libya's eastern city of Benghazi during last year's revolution. He died there Tuesday night, along with another diplomat and two State Department security officers, when a mob stormed the U.S. Consulate and set it ablaze.

The Benghazi consulate was one of several American diplomatic missions that faced protests after the online release of a film that ridiculed Muslims and depicted the Prophet Mohammed as a child molester, womanizer and ruthless killer.

But U.S. sources said Wednesday the four-hour assault in Benghazi had been planned beforehand, with the attackers using the protest as a diversion.

Amps up the hunt? It was called the "Global War on Terror" until Obama mandated the new and improved name, "Overseas Contingency Operations", squandered victroy in Iraq, still can't deal with Pakistan, and still has done nothing about Iran's nuclear weapon. This isn't a new issue, it's an old issue. Liberal delusions and fantasies of "we are the world" doesn't make radical islam go away.

Nor does getting involved in sectarian wars such as Iraq and their WMD's. Victory in Iraq my ass! How many more body bags for our young men do you need. War is great when you're 3000 miles from the front.

Clinton administration flashbacks: Eevery time muslims killed Americans, the same public relations script, "We will investigate and bring them to justice!" Blah blah blah, never happened. Obama is the same, pretending that a clear threat is not a threat, a foreign policy based on wishful thinking. Where is he today? Did he miss his intel update to make that campaign stop or golf trip? Can't let a few dead Americans get in the way of important campaigning. Let me guess: This is all Bush's fault, and it will get better as soon as Obama is re elected.

This new "amped" hunt should see to it that the perp masterminded this terrorist attackis found sometime within the next ten years, perhaps with the first Asian-American president giving the order to dispense with the formalities and go directly to the execution phase of our justice system.
And none rest in peace. You either go to heaven or hell. Ask any religionist.

MUSLIMS of the world, WAKE UP!!! YOU are in the "killing zone" because of YOUR lack of action! GOOD vs BAD muslims? Good vs Bad has exsisted forever! IF you want to convince ME, that your religion does NOT teach that these types of violence & killing are AGAINST your religion, then YOU MUST speak out! In this case silence is damning! Those GOOD muslims remain silent, while we continually hear and see actions from the BAD? muslims!
MUSLIMS MUST teach the world as to the REAL muslim religion!! Demonstrate, get on TV, in the newspapers, on the internet, EVERYWHERE, and tell US what the real truth is! FAILURE to stand up only shows that violence and killing is a part of the muslim religion!

    Good morning all.
It is now becoming clear that the attack on US Embassy that killed the Ambassador and others was a military style Al-Qaeda action.
After the ouster of Ghddafi, which was the easy part, the country has been plunged into chaos turning into another Somalia. Something like this had to happen.
Syria I'm afraid would go the same way once Bashar goes.

As for that anti-islam film which has sparked protests around the world. Seeing the 14 minute trailer of that abomonation is a disgusting experience.
Only vilest of minds could have conceived and produced something like this. The intent is clear to insult , provoke and incite.
    Its reprehensible.

I wonder how a film like this produced by a non-Hindu reviling one of their holy deities would be received in India, or a non-Budhdhist doing something akin to revile and insult Budhdha or a non-Jew coming up with a film reviling Judaism or Holocaust??

In the matter of the person who masterminded this film, he should be prosecuted to full extent of the law. There is no way this "person", and I use that discription "very" loosely, could not have known the release of his film would cause this kind of reaction in the muslim world. He is as complicit in the death of these people, as though he were there and did it himself.

Let me offer a partial retraction of my above comment.

I know the reports are saying the group, who has ties to al queda, had already planned this attack. Maybe so, but that still does not cover the violence against our embassies in other areas because of the film. At the very least, he should be charged with inciting to riot and destruction of US property.

I have seen propaganda films like this produced over the years, and I cannot imagine this one would be much different, although I haven't seen it.
Some mentioned "South Park" on another thread.
The difference there is that they satirize *everyone*; not just one group or one faith, and one who would take that as a representation of how America thinks is a stupid person indeed...
This whole thing is just awful.

      good afternoon@bobcat
      On the mark.
And @banasy this film is no way even satirical. Pure hate mongering and vile against what is perceived as sacred by 1.2 billion plus people.

    Good morning banasy

I know I'm overreacting on this subject, but literally knowing how those people are going to react, why put this kind of stuff out there with knowledge of the level of violence these people exhibit ?

      Good morning, bobcat.

No, you're not the one overreacting; unfortunately it was the precise reaction of this 'film maker' that he desired.
      Why make it?
Because he *could* under the protection of free speech in the US; we have now seen what price that freedom is for such a foolhardy decision: the death of four people.
The price to be paid should have come out of *his* hide.
I hope the people responsible never knows a moment of rest again in their lifetime...shame on them all.
