Embassies close in fear of more protests

Several diplomatic facilities were shuttered Friday as many brace for intensified protests over the anti-Islam movie "Innocence of Muslims," as well as recently published cartoons in a French publication of a figure resembling the Prophet Mohammed.

Demonstrations have raged for days as many in the Muslim world are angry about the U.S.-made film mocking the Prophet Mohammed and the French cartoons. And some believe Friday prayers, a time of protest recently in the Middle East and North Africa, could add fuel to the fire.

Demonstrations occurred in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran Thursday.

Why are muslims so upset? Millions of Americans make fun of Jesus Christ daily yet we don't protest.
Either we are more civilized than them, or we really don't care.

Choice A1...we really don't care. Wether it's laughing along with comedian George Carlin's "Buddy Jesus" or TV's South Park charachterization of Jesus Christ...or actually paying good money to take your family to see Jesus Christ being brutalized on the Big Screen movie theatre, your avg. American doesn't give a ratz ass about Jesus Christ our lord and savior. (or these things would greatly upset them rather than them finding these things funny or entertaining)

So what embassy are you gonna storm because of a bad movie that a total train wreck of a man Mel Gibson made? You have choices here in America NOT to go see a movie or not watch Carlin or South Park if they offend you.

  3. Jesus, prophet of Allah?

According to muslim leaders, Jesus was a prophet of Allah.(not God's only begotten son as christians believe) Yet, muslims say NOTHING when Americans make fun of Jesus and portray him skinny with a gaunt look on a contorted face.
    Amazing disparity.

We should just ignore them if possible. There is nothing we can do to make them happy. The current administration has issued a semi-apology and we have given them billions of dollars over the years. Im beginning to think Isreal is right. The Islamic culture really seems to be one of violence and intollerence.

We should pull all embassy workers from these countries, close them down, yank any and all aid from them, and then embargo them all compleatly. In a year they will all starve to death, then we swoop back in and take full control of all of there oil fields. Why does our government negotiate with these terrorists? If we stoped letting our western "allies" drill our oil from america, we wouldn't need these terrorists oil.

Why bother going back in. North America can be an energy self sufficient continent with about a year. We've got plenty of oil in Alberta, we just need to upgrade capacity and build the pipeline. But of course Obama thinks it's "dirty" oil. Can't be any dirtier than the deals the US has made with the Saudis and others over the years, can it?

lol @ mickeyl3l3, kinda agree with most of what you said, except, the *swooping* would most likely be done by Russia or China.

    Good morning all.

What is coming to light now according to an article by Justin Raimondo is this. That the convicted felon Nakoula who we have been told is the producer of this film is just a gofer. A man released a month before on parole would hardly undertake a 'project' like this and to what purpose?
Its a pro-Israel org " Media for Christ" supported by such hate mongers as Geller and Spencer and run principally by Joseph Nasrullah AbdelMasih who is now considered to be behind this movie. And the intent was clear, exactly what is happening now.

None of that matters in the slightest. A bigger issue is that the masses in many of these countries can be incited to riot over the smallest of things. If it wasn't this film, it would be anything else – a no head covering rule in a private school in Europe, a no-name cartoonist drawing Mohammed yet again, Qurans getting accidentally shredded by a paper recycling company – anything. What little incident will set off the next round of riots?

      Hey say,
People should know that a lot of these "protests" are staged with copies and stenciled re-prints being passed out to drum up support against this "movie". This movie was made to hide the anti-American protests which popping up all over the world. Not just in Arab countries either. They are trying to distract us away from domestic policies which are actively killing Americans here at home. We don't need Arabs to tell us that our government and it's failed policies suck, we have most of America saying that. Unless of course you are a paid media agent or you campaigning. The two camps that love American policies.......Media/Campaigners

It .remains to be seen what else comes to light.
What is happening now in countries like Pakistan is simply crazy, it is self destructive and apparently exploited by politically motivated and other forces.
A world now dominated by wars, hate and fear ( by design) seeking some semblance of sanity. Sad.

I truly believe that these spreading riots have been contrived by some anti-Us group ... the global response to this video, that has been decried by our country and the actors, is way over the top! Especially compared to other, much worse violations of Mideastern belief. But I don't think they reflect many of the governments in power. Nor can we just go in and throw our weight around as some of today's candidates are proposing .. despite the Arab Spring wobbling, there is still the possibility of relations strengthening in much of the region. However, I wonder what would happen if we DID pull out all our Embassies and troops and announce a refusal to grant further aid to each country until the governments take control of their own mess. I suspect we might be surprised at the reaction ... and I suspect in many places (Libya, Egypt, Saudia Arabia, etc.) the reaction would be positive to our goals. Just a thought.

It is all too organized to be spontaneous. Thousands can be incited to protest in these countries at a moment's notice over practically nothing. There is no doubt there is a major anti-western organization in the Islamic world causing all of this. But of course there are some here (cough, cough) who would have you believe the opposite, that there is some grand US/Israeli conspiracy.

  12. "anti US" group?

These are anti- making fun of God (Allah to muslims) groups NOT "anti USA " groups. If millions of Americans feet fit those shoes, so be it.
It's not nice to make fun of FATHER nature either.

Good morning to you too @Philip.
    @Lynn
We supply no financial aid to S.Arabia. on the contrary we make billions from their lucrative defense contracts. So was true of Libya under Ghddafi. Now Libya is a country split wide open for all and sundry hardly any governance. We did though armed and aided the 'rebels'.
As for Egypt we had strings of aid tied to to their military rulers, I think that still is operative.

lmao@BOMBO. the Iraeli and US governments conspire IN PUBLIC! What do you mean "there is no conspiracy between the two?
For example, the vast majority of UN nations have resolved to end Isreal's illegal nuclear program. Over 100 UN resolutions have been made against Israel for breaking international laws. ALL resolutions were vetoed by the US GOV.
read "The Teicher Affidavit" and then tell me the US AND israel didn't conspire to arm Saddam Hussein with Soviet made weapons AFTER HE HAD COMMITTED MAJOR ATROCITIES AGAINST HIS OWN PEOPLE.
The US gov is Israel's gopher based on the idea that the MOSSAD are a God's little helpers. They are not anymore than we are.
