His New York Jets are struggling on the field, but team owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson told Bloomberg News today that it's more important to him to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected.
Johnson, chairman of Johnson Co. and a great-great-grandson of the founder of Johnson & Johnson, is the New York state chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign.
His Jets are 2-2 this season, and fans are smarting after Sunday's 34-0 pounding at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Nevertheless, Johnson has his priorities. When an interviewer on Bloomberg Television's "Market Makers" asked him whether football or politics was more important, Johnson responded:
"Well, I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very, very important, not only for us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president.”
That might be the best news coach Rex Ryan and beleaguered quarterback Mark Sanchez will hear all week.
Well, that certainly explains why the Jets stink so badly. Poor choices from the top down.
It's not the country he is putting first. Just his own self intrest.
Obama 34 – Romney 0
Or Obama 47 – Romney 0
Well, duh. Most Americans with that type of income, are more likely to side with Mitt Romney. Why wouldn't they...? His potential policies would have more benefit to them. Who do you think benefits from low capital gains rates etc....? It's not Joe the Plumber.
If more people actually saved, even small amounts like $20/month, you will be amazed what type of savings you can amount from a low risk portfolio in the market. Stocks are not some magical well that only the rich can draw from. if you want to retire confomortably, then you should be saving and investing.
Romney's lack of compassion for seniors and the disabled and for Americans in general is so outrageous that I hope one day his wife or sons have a medical emergency and they end up having to be cared for by a Liberal nurse or doctor. And I hope they pull the f-ing plug. Beep beep...bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb. Good riddance.
The same rhetoric of the rich republicans. He does not care about the fans. They are victims.
losers stick together
Did we need more reasons to hate the Jets?
Note to self-No more Johnson&Johnson products in my house.
good luck on that one
Gee why would a multi-millionaire like Johnson want Romney to win? A big tax payday that's why..and the rest of us pay the bill for the giant tax break for teh well heeled & huge increase in military spending that's coming if Willard gets elected. There's only one reason for such a hugh increase; more war! We need another war like we need another terrorist attack. To me it's easy to say trust me and tax breaks for the rich will improve the economy when studies show just the opposite. If Willard wins we're handing the reins back to the drivers that drove the wagon into the ditch...just when we're pulling the wagon out.
Yes...and it shows. The Jets SUCK this year. Another angry old white guy rooting for Romney so he can pay less taxes.
yes 9 out of 10 millionaires prefer romney
ALL FAT CATS ARE ROMENY,WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THAT,S WHY YOU HARD WORKING PEOPLE NEED TO VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!!!
Good to know this guy's a big Republican donor; now we can avoid spending any money on the Jets or their merchandise. I should have guessed, since he's extremely wealthy.
Apparently Johnson knows as much about poltics as he does about football. NOTHING!
