NFL owner more interested in winning election than winning games

His New York Jets are struggling on the field, but team owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson told Bloomberg News today that it's more important to him to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected.

Johnson, chairman of Johnson Co. and a great-great-grandson of the founder of Johnson & Johnson, is the New York state chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign.

His Jets are 2-2 this season, and fans are smarting after Sunday's 34-0 pounding at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Nevertheless, Johnson has his priorities. When an interviewer on Bloomberg Television's "Market Makers" asked him whether football or politics was more important, Johnson responded:

"Well, I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very, very important, not only for us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president.”

That might be the best news coach Rex Ryan and beleaguered quarterback Mark Sanchez will hear all week.

This guy is as good at picking a candidate as he is at putting a football team together. Honestly nobody cares what you have to say. He wants Romney to save taxes cause he has to pay for Rex Ryans next stomach staple.

He's filthy rich and because he lost money with Bernie Madoff, he needs Mitt to help him get even wealther. It's not surprising that he is in Romney's camp. He should be focusing on his losing football team – The Jets.

If this election goes to Obama, this country will not recover from 4 more years. Obama is a likable guy, Romney is pretty much of a stiff, but it's not about who's likable, at this point its about saving our country.

Save our country? Are you serious, this country was lost decades ago, what rock did you crawl from up under? They have been selling this country bit by bit for over 30 years. Most of New York is now rented to this country, all the politicans are in someone's pocket. Corporate greed has run amuck.

Yo numbnuts, you must not be paying attention. Obama inherited a garbage economy, 2 wars, deregulated banks and financial houses, and one of the poorest run administrations after 8 years of Republican rule by the guy nobody seems to remember. Yeah, don't forget "W", you want to complain, talk to good old George, and if you want 4 more years of that, vote for Willard King of the out of touch billionaires Romney. Jesus Christ on a bike, will the American people please wake up. This Romney guy is against immigrants, women's reproductive rights, and paying his fair share of THE TAX BILL!!

  9. Reagan was the best

Alright!!! At least the Jet's owner is smarter than that idiot Steeler owner Dan Rooney. Obozo is the Anti-Christ who is going to destroy America like Hitler destroyed Germany. America needs a REAL American patriot who also believes in religious rights for all and not just for Muslims and Islamics. One who fights terrorism and doesn't cater to them. I know we will unfortunately NEVER has a great president like Reagan was,but we need someone who cares about our citizens and NOT more about illegals and terrorists. GOD bless America!!!

You do realize (actually, I'm sure you don't) that Reagan would be mocked for being a RINO in today's GOP which makes your post very funny. Thanks.

Amen!! And, CNN isn't happy if it isn't putting down someone who is supporting Romney/Ryan. The poorest excuse for a news network in the world as far as I and many others are concerned. They will be shut out of so many things when Romney wins because he has the money to do it and they are too stupid to realize it. I cannot wait to see the EGG on their face and the backtracking they are going to have to do when that happens. They won't be able to take him out of office or make him look bad; they'll just look like the black butchers that they are.

Saydie – Are you saying that if Mitt Romney is elected, he'll use his money and influence as president to shut down a press organization?

And if you really believe that, then why do you think he should be president?

So, a sweetheart deal to use a taxpayer funded stadium , doesn't that automatically make you one of the %47?
Socialize their risk, privatize their profits. That has been the theme of professional sports leagues for the last 50 years.

One more reason then to NOT like the jets. They play like lame ducks, slime green uniforms, players like sanchez and tebow.. What IS there to like about them? Nothing, nada, nichts.

On the same note, John Elway endorses mittens romney for president.

It's like the republican / teaparty outragers scream: (liberal) VIPs should just keep their mouths shut and not mingle in politics. Well, that goes for both sides. Elway is a 1%ter, so no surprise here. Other than that his endorsement is as meaningless to the general electorate as is what the lousy jets owner said, another 1%ter.

It's blowback from that stupid "well football players don't want gay men in the locker room with them" thing. You know, when football players all over the country came out and said, "Shut up. You're wrong. We have gay men in the locker room with us right now, and we don't care. And also, shut up."

It ticked the "moral majority" right off.
