NFL owner more interested in winning election than winning games

His New York Jets are struggling on the field, but team owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson told Bloomberg News today that it's more important to him to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected.

Johnson, chairman of Johnson Co. and a great-great-grandson of the founder of Johnson & Johnson, is the New York state chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign.

His Jets are 2-2 this season, and fans are smarting after Sunday's 34-0 pounding at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Nevertheless, Johnson has his priorities. When an interviewer on Bloomberg Television's "Market Makers" asked him whether football or politics was more important, Johnson responded:

"Well, I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very, very important, not only for us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president.”

That might be the best news coach Rex Ryan and beleaguered quarterback Mark Sanchez will hear all week.

This is just another rich dude supporting the Republicans. With a few notable exceptions like the Kennedys and Warren Buffet, the rich always favor Republicans because Republicans take care of their own–the rich.
If you are a middle class or very poor person you had better wise up and go to the polls and vote for Obama/Biden. Don't expect Romney to do anything for you! Early voting has started in several states!

Yeah – shocker. they picked up an inferior qb to the one they already had simply b/c of the jebus factor and they're pulling for the GOP?
They'll get their president when Jets fans get another superbowl

According to our own Congressional Budget office, The top 20% of income earners pay 96% of the income taxes in our country. 40% of income earners pay no taxes and we are giving them assistance and the other 40% pay little or no taxes but are not on government assistence and yet we keep being fed the rich are not paying enough and this is being kept like a state secert in Washington because it refutes the Obama Campaign's strategy that the rich aren't paying enough.

Are those numbers supposed to shock us? Why is that inconsistent with asking the upper tax brackets to pay more - i.e., closer to what they used to pay before the crippling tax cuts?

Of course the rich pay more - income tax is assessed as a percentage of income! The only inequity is that the wealthy are better able than the poor and middle class to shield their tax liability by recasting income as capital gains and claiming loads of tax-deductible debt.

This guy's non financial judgment isn't too good. Rex Ryan as coach, Sanchez as QB. A team that usually chokes in the pinch. Yup, someone you want to trust when it comes to politics.

I can't get over how the repubs idiots really believe that they are the only group of folks who work in this country. Most Dems I know are very hard workers and work harder than any wealthy repub ever work. It's like Obama said, you didn't do it on your own. had it not been for the "little people" your business would have never thrived. Most wealthy folks became wealthy because of people who bought or used their product. Also, most of the folks in the military are dems or folks who joined to support their families only to come home dead or so sick to a country who folks like Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan refuse to give help to. How anyone would vote for Mitt is beyond me. The man says he is not for helping those who need help which include our vets, seniors, children and mentally ill. It has been proven by people who know the system very well there are very few moochers. Repubs are very stupid and will beleive any lie to appease their sins. So much for Mitt and his Christianity or Paul's either. Hypocritical so called christian repubs.

Johnson & Johnson has had reputation of descrimintation dating back to the early 50's and 60's. That being sad, its no wonder why this older version of WASP, is backing Romney. Remember people Mormans are not Christians, the bible tells us so, no other book, trumps the old or new testament, RIGHT.

Don't vote for this non Christian Morman!

He comes from old money, so of course he's clueless. He obviously doesn't make good decisions, look at his team. Still, he'll steal from those fans silly enough to pay $120 a ticket to watch that mess. THAT should be his concern, not keeping money he inherited.

I am a young white male in college and am terrified of becoming successful because of all the hate. Seriously, this much envy of another man's success is sad. If he was pulling for Obama he probably wouldn't be as "rich" or "evil" would he? It truly is pathetic. So much for aiming for success.

My dear white brother. I think you are missing the point. Americans don't hate sucessfull people. We don't like people who were born on third base and act like they hit a triple. Some people have an decided advantage over others in America, BUT we all can make it up the proverbial ladder. When Mittens says 47% of american don't take resposiblity for thier lives, its condesending and disrespectfull to hard working Americans.
And futhermore this is why the Jets will NEVER win a Superbowl, the head guy is not a football guy. Jerry Jones is and old rich white guy, but I respect him beacuse he wants to win, his number priority is a Superbowl, he bleeds blue and silver!!
