NFL owner more interested in winning election than winning games

His New York Jets are struggling on the field, but team owner Robert Wood "Woody" Johnson told Bloomberg News today that it's more important to him to see Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan get elected.

Johnson, chairman of Johnson Co. and a great-great-grandson of the founder of Johnson & Johnson, is the New York state chairman of the Romney-Ryan campaign.

His Jets are 2-2 this season, and fans are smarting after Sunday's 34-0 pounding at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers. Nevertheless, Johnson has his priorities. When an interviewer on Bloomberg Television's "Market Makers" asked him whether football or politics was more important, Johnson responded:

"Well, I think you always have to put country first. So I think it’s very, very important, not only for us but in particular for our kids and grandkids, that this election come off with Mitt Romney and Ryan as president and vice president.â€

That might be the best news coach Rex Ryan and beleaguered quarterback Mark Sanchez will hear all week.

@Obama Mama. CNN has a huge presence in Europe. (CNN Europe) When it comes to covering the world, CNN is lightyears ahead of Fox.
funny story: I have a friend with a bachelor of the arts degree from CSU (he's also gay) He moved to Colorado Springs and couldn't find a job. (the unemployment rate here is 13.7%) So he did what Ronald Reagan (a lifelong democrat until he ran for gov of Cali) did, sort of. He called himself a "Log Cabin Repiblican" and FOX hired him as an office boy. He's a 30 something democrat who flip-flopped to get a job! Just like ronald Reagan, though during the Reagan Era there was no such thing as a Log Cabin Republican. Most all were still in 'the closet' others aren't allowed to have.

Do you need more indication that the GOP is the party of the super rich? or that those with a vested interest with their personal wealth is heavily riding on a GOP win? this is the party behind the economic chaos and all they can do is blame the other party.

If I was a multi-millionaire owner of an NFL team I would want MR too. But I'm just a middle class white collar professional and MR offers me nothing. Besides I don't want to see the USA at war with Iran and apparently WJ doesn't care.

Maybe if he paid more attention to football, he'd have a better team? Either way, selling Romney to the masses is tough duty. You need good raw material to have a good product. Sadly, he's a little short in that department.

LoL@Mama. I got a big kick out of what he was willing to do to get a job too. And he's really getting-in to being a republican now, or at least acting like it.
Did you happen to notice this NFL owner using the words 'country' and 'romney' as synonyms?

To support a left wing loonie like Obama who offers nothing other than government management of your life, you have to be one pathetic sad sack.
