[Update 8:55 p.m. ET] The U.S. Geological Survey revised its report of Tuesday's earthquake to magnitude 4.0, down from a preliminary magnitude of 4.6. The epicenter was pinpointed 4 miles west-southwest of Hollis Center, Maine, at a shallow depth of 4.2 miles.
Despite the downgrade, the quake was felt as far away as Boston, Massachusetts; Albany, New York, and even Waterbury, Connecticut, according to the USGS.

Here in Buxton, ME...just a few miles east of Hollis Center. First I thought the furnace was about to explode, then I wondered if a jet was crashing overhead into our field, and also like a freight train running thru the basement for about 5 seconds. I lived in California for 25 years and was never in a vicinity to feel something this strong. Freaky.
Felt it here in Manchester NH. The entire building shook.
Yeah it was pretty bad in Maine, my iPad fell off the kitchen table it was that hard!
And we're around the Augusta area.
Must have been caused by Fracking in PA.
slept right through it here in Medford, (3.4m nw of BOston)
Are they fracking around there?
Felt in Springfield,MA.
Trembling in the Western Mtns near Lovell. Felt exactly like a huge truck rolling by, no swaying at all. I guess Hubby really did a good job building this house. I'm from SF...I know quakes. It hardly felt like one here, in this house.
I live in Belfast and this place shook good. The whole house felt like it was coming to life.
