Uruguay poised to legalize abortion

Uruguay's senate passed a bill Wednesday that would legalize abortion during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Leftist President Jose Mujica has said he will sign the bill into law, which will make it the latest in a number of laws in the region that go against the grain of the traditionally very Catholic, socially conservative Latin America.

Most countries in Latin America allow abortion only in cases of rape, incest, to save a woman's life, or when a fetus is malformed. Uruguay would become just the second Latin American country where abortion is legal on request.

The bill sparked heated debate in the South American country. The senate passed the bill by a 17-14 vote. The  lower legislative house in August passed it by a 50-49 vote after a 16-hour session.

Slowly the world is becoming more civilized.

Congratulations Uraguay for joining the 20th century.

Yep, dismembering and discarding other humans is what makes us "civilized".

Yeah, welcome to the "20th century" ideals of Hitler. This is the "21st century" where we value human life.

civilized is not just making babies. It is also the common sense to not have one if you are not in a position to take care of the kid (for 18 years atleast).

Letting women around the world kill their babies one step at a time. God is still on his throne.

And they repented not of their murders. You may consider it civilized I assure you the child did not even though he or she was in the womb.

How can you know that? The fetus wasn't even awake. Do you remember being a fetus? Doe anyone?

God folks, get a life. The entire civilized world allows abortion, since it is a womans choice.

Y'all just want to propogate the ol' Men Dominate Rule to keep women down.

Remind me of a bunch of Muslim men who won't let their ladies show their faces.

Oh that's right – you think THAT is civilized. I beg to differ, but, to each their own.

Why don't you just admit it?

You get off on killing innocent babies because you are a vile degenerate.

Dude, I haven't killed ONE innocent baby since returning from my second tour in Iraq.

Besides, I thought babies were those cute little things that cry in a crib, not a bunch of cells sitting in a ladies stomach.

Um ... and how come it's ok to kill all the other little babies in the world, you know, the non-human kind? Are humans so presumptious they think they are the smartest creature on earth and rule earth? Sorry, not that any of you believe in science, but we ain't the smartest creature according to the scientists.

Oh wait, I forgot, those are the same scientists who think that those several million dinosauer bones they have found are real, and not planted there as part of a human conspiracy bigger even than the elaborate doping scheme Lance Armstrong created.

      Who is a vile degenerate?

Option 1 : Is it the person not having the kid, since he/she cannot care for the kid (variety of reasons including finances, divorce, economy, health, career etc).

      OR
option 2: Is it the person having the kid since "GOD" told him/her to raise the kid in a crappy way : includes poorly educated, poorly mannered, malnourished, being scorned by similar "GODly" folks, being the disgust of society.

I always love the pro-abortion's main reason for supporting this barbaric practice, and that is about the woman's inability to properly raise the child.
By that thinking we should be able to kill off anybody we can't care for. Why stop at the unborn? Why don't we allow society to off their old and decrepid parents or grandparent? How about their hard to care for disabled children? How about those people that we simply don't want to feed and clothe anymore?
I mean if you rationale is simply that the mother can't take care of the baby then you need to allow that option for all people who are "saddled" with the burden of taking care of another human being.
How about this for a change, watch an abortion. See the actual procedure and then witness the discarded human remains that are simply thrown into a trash can. Do that and then try to tell me the practice isn't barbaric.
Otherwise shut your pie hole because you're simply living in a dilusional world full of fairies and make believe.

      Mike,

Speaking of "dilusional", most people can see a major difference between an elderly adult and an inch and a half embryo. MOST people can.

Ah yes, I have finally ascended to such high levels that another guy out there (a religious guy) just renamed himself 'Sly'.

Oh well, it should make it more amusing to try and figure out which one is the real Sly.

Of course, just measure the cleverness and it is quite apparent.

Now back to Lance Armstrong hoax, oops, I mean Jose Christ, ooops, I mean the killing of all those cells.

The moment life begins is the moment the baby first gulps oxygen. Up to that point, anything goes. Kill 'em fast if you don't want 'em.

This is great. Overpopulation leads to poverty which leads to more overpopulation. There are too many people throughout the world and preventing the birth of unwanted children helps all of us. This is a moral issue. It is simply immoral to keep abortion illegal. It is immoral to harass women who want abortions. It is immoral for ANY church to force their antiquated beliefs on the rest of us.

How is it the "conservatives" are always complaining about paying for all the kids and baby mamas on welfare and also all the illegal coming across the border but now here's a south american country trying to control the population and you are against them. Make up your mind: Kids/Welfare or Legal Abortion
