Twin blasts kill 11 in Iraq

Twin roadside bombs exploded in an outdoor market in northwestern Baghdad Saturday, raising fears that a recent surge in violence is not over.

The attack on the Bab al-Darwaza market in the Shiite neighborhood of Kadhimiya left at least 11 people dead, Baghdad police officials said.

In separate incidents, gunmen killed two Baghdad police officers and another officer was fatally shot outside his house, the officials said.

Violence has dropped dramatically in Iraq since the peak of Sunni-Shiite clashes in 2006 and 2007 and the withdrawal of U.S. troops from the country in December, but insurgent attacks against civilians and security forces have been on the uptick recently, as the country still smolders with sectarian tension and political infighting.

...And this is something the Iraqi people need to deal with themselves, as cold as that may sound...sectarian infighting is a constant.

Banasy: Agree totally. WE somehow, conrtinue to think that WE can change these people. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! They are "brainwashed" from birth, continue to live with their history, refuse help, unless it is to get the almighty $$$, which doesn't change them! Smile at you during the day, put a knife in you at night! Seems like our "leaders" constantly tell us that it is in our "national security" to help these countries? If that is true then we are in big trouble!

Yes you can change them if you treat them as my ancestors were after the fall of the third reiche. The german citizens were told that it was their fault, that could have stopped it and chose not to, that they will clean up the mess and noone cares if they starve doing so. All muslims should be held accountable. @Banasy you claim to be a librarian, look it up it's in the history books. Singing koom by ya won't win a war or convince the enemy not to be violent.
