Four dead in Wisconsin salon shooting, including gunman
[Updated 6:10 p.m.] Suspected shooter Radcliffe Haughton has been found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Brookfield police Chief Daniel Tushaus said. He was found inside the salon where the shooting occurred.
[Updated 5:38 p.m.] Froedtert Hospital - the Milwaukee medical facility where four shooting victims are being treated - has "resumed normal operations" after earlier being placed in lockdown mode, the hospital said on its website.
"We are certain that our environment is safe," the hospital said in an update published at 4:25 p.m. CT.
[Updated 5:20 p.m.] President Barack Obama learned of the shooting around 12:30 p.m. CT from homeland security adviser John Brennan and then had a follow-up call an hour later involving, among others, FBI Director Bob Mueller, a White House statement said.
"The president was informed that the shooting did not appear to be terrorism-related," the statement said.
Earlier, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker offered '"our thoughts and prayers to the victims" and "the law enforcement and community support they need to heal in the coming days."
[Updated 4:56 p.m.] Authorities working to clear the building where Sunday's bloody shooting took place "believe we have identified what is being described as an improvised explosive device," Brookfield police Chief Daniel Tushaus said.
The device is "hampering our clearing of that building," the chief added.
[Updated 4:41 p.m.] Authorities "believe" three of the seven people shot Sunday have died, according to Tushaus.
The shooting took place around 11 a.m. CT (noon ET), the chief explained.
Authorities have been able to track down a 2003 Mazda Protege linked to the suspect - which was found outside the city of Brookfield - but the suspect remains at large. He's been identified as Radcliffe Haughton, who Tushaus said weighs 270 pounds and stands just over 6 feet tall.
[Updated 4:10 p.m.] Bomb squad personnel are at the scene of the shooting, Brookfield police Lt. John Beth said, pointing to concerns there may be explosives at the site.
[Updated 3:42 p.m.] ATF spokesman Thomas Ahern identifies the suspected shooter as Radcliffe Haughton, 45, of Brown Deer, Wisconsin. The shooting is being investigated as a possible domestic-related incident, according to Ahern. The suspect remains at large.

[Updated 1:54 p.m.] CNN affiliate WISN reports that a witness described seeing two women leaving the spa, apparently injured. One crawled out and was taken by emergency responders. The other was treated by emergency personnel in a squad car.
[Updated 1:32 p.m.] Hospital spokeswoman Nalissa Wienke tells CNN all four people in the emergency room appear to have non-critical injuries. She could not say whether the injuries were due to gunshots. At this time, the hospital does not believe it will need more staff, she said.
[Updated 1:28 p.m.] Numerous emergency vehicles are at a spa in Brookfield, Wisconsin, as local news agencies report a shooting took place.
Four people are in an emergency room, and another three are on their way, said Beth Strohbusch of Froedtert Hospital in nearby Milwaukee.
CNN affiliate WTMJ says the Waukesha Sheriff's Department confirmed there was a shooting, and that witnesses say it was either at or near the Azana Salon and Spa, which is across the road from Brookfield Square Mall.
CNN affiliate WISN called it a "mass shooting."

We should ban all cell phones today. In the wrong hands they are deadly. the NRA has nothing on how many people steve jobs killed this year.
Good lord, what is wrong with people. Seems like every day we're hearing about another shooting. Sorry libs, I know the knee jerk reaction is more gun laws, but it will do no good. Canada has a higher murder rate than us, and their gun laws are much more strict. But don't let that stop your witch hunt, I know how you guys hate facts.
Hey AL. You obviously know nothing about Canada. Our murder rate is probably less for a year than it is for one day or week in the United States. Yes we have gun laws they do not effect the hunters or getting firearms legally to responsible people. We have a very strong effort in place to keep assault weapons which are illegal off the streets. A great number of the guns are coming in to Canada from the United States or stolen from collectors of guns. Check your facts. We do not have the mass murders that you do.
The biggest victims in any shoot out are the surviving family members of the shooter.
No description of the shooter, so it could be anybody.

This issue, hopefully will draw more people out to vote for Obama. The NRA has endorsed Romney. At least President Obama took a stance and said fire arms designed for use by the military have no business being on our streets. I happen to agree with him. I find it interesting that Romney banned automatic weapons in Mass when he was governor, now that he is running for President, he avoids the issue but the NRA supports him.

Thoughts and well wishes to the victims and their loved ones. Relieved that so far there have been no reports of fatalities. I'm assuming they have a suspect in mind, and I hope he is apprehended soon and without further incident.

More dangerous?? The gun sitting in your closet – if you have children, or your home is broken into. Guns should be LOCKED UP – not "sitting in your closet." I'd be willing to bet that the shooter had a large capacity magazine too. That's dangerous, and not needed for "self defense" or "hunting" – unless you are hunting a crowd of people.
The gun in your closet, because its legality means the maniac has one already, and doesn't need yours. And when you confront him in your home, he'll fire first. . . . .

Didnt you get the memo. Guns shoot people. People dont shoot guns. We need armed mall cops that shoot unarmed thieves that steal. Im sure this would be bigger news if it was a white guy that shot some black child. Instead its just another day in the hood the local mall.

So true. Sarcasm understood. I think it would go over the head of most people who hang on to their guns so strongly. It has been studied that if you have a gun in your house you would be more likely to be shot by it yourself. The robber is on high adrenalin and you are caught off guard. If you have a gun in your home it should be locked in a safe place so when a robber comes in do you ask him or her for time out so you can get your gun. Just a thought.
It is pretty shameful that there are still people on this forum talking about pro-gun after regular mass killings all over US.. Either you need to be out of your mind or one of these loony people to support this horrific gun culture! It isn't surprising that you don't understand - willfully or otherwise - that the pro-gun position is that banning firearms will only make society less safe. Why? Because criminals, who already ignore the laws, will keep their firearms and continue to use them, while law abiding citizens will disarm themselves.
How many of these murders have been the result of legitimate, gun owning citizens spontaneously running amok?

@ Nah, wait no guns makes it less safe? Ok so where were all the people caring during this shooting? Where are all the gun carriers when a bank gets robbed? So far I don't see a drop in the crime rate due to people caring guns.
