Kennedy nephew Skakel denied parole

Michael Skakel, nephew of Robert F. Kennedy, was denied his first opportunity for parole Wednesday, a spokesman for the Connecticut Department of Correction said.

Skakel has served 10 years of a 20-years-to-life sentence for the 1975 beating death of his teenage neighbor, Martha Moxley, in Greenwich, Connecticut. He is the nephew of Robert F. Kennedy's widow, Ethel Kennedy.

I wonder if he found many trees to climb in prison.

No way. His cousin's name is Kennedy. If it were Skapel justice might be served.

I just want to comment that this man has not a drop of Kennedy blood in his veins. He is the son of Robert F. Kennedy's, wifes, brother. He would likely have been not quite 8 years old when his Aunt Ethel's husband was killed. Yet the headline blasts the name "Kennedy". How many of you would want to take responsibility for the actions of your in-laws children, whom you did not raise and likely did not know?

Okay. Did Ted Kennedy have any "Kennedy blood.?" Because he killed a young woman and covered it up as well.

He grew up in the same loving, upstanding, values-oriented Kennedy gang. They have the best PR machine on the planet, I've met a couple of them and they are not people you would classify as "good".

His Uncle let a working girl, a cashier, drown, when he drove drunk off an overpass. Went hone and slept it off, then called his lawyer, then called the police the next morning. Got a slap on the wrist for it. No jail time, nothing, Remained Senator. This guy has no actual Kennedy DNA, so he's not a member of the protected class of Kennedys.

Right. He's just another psychopathic human being. Ted had the last name Kennedy and didn't share the same last name, but they both have/had a lot in common. Basically, really dangerous people to society.

I really think he should of been tried as a Juvenile, 17 at the time of the incident, that said, he has been a model prisoner and just because he is loosely related to Kennedys he should be given the same consideration as everyone else gets, not sure when others who commit these kinds of crimes get paroled but judge him the same as others

I disagree with you. A 17 year old who MURDERS a kid across the street is a menace to society. He was close enough to being an "adult" to know right from wrong. He was mis-wired, and most likely always will be. He was not a 2 year old who accidentally found a loaded gun and killed someone. Absolutely no parole for this person regardless of any Kennedy affiliation. And Ted Kennedy was disgusting in his actions up until the day he died, most likely in a drunken stuper at the time.

I hate to admit it but this reminds me of some of the Irish Catholics in my own family. They mumble in their beads, go to confession and that makes it alright.

Just because he is associated with Kennedy name CNN need to put this article up? Who cares, I never heard of this guy, and now I'm stupider for knowing about him.

You never heard of him because you are probably too young. Don't worry about it. I don't think you are stupid for never having heard of this wacko. But you are hearing about a lot of other ones out there, if that gives you any comfort, which it should NOT.

Martha's parents will always grieve the murder of their child, even more horrific is the fact Skakel KNEW he murdered this young woman & did not come forward to admit guilt. Skakel had a chance to live a good part of his family's wealthy life enjoying the comforts of home, vacations, parties, the love of family all of which Martha Moxley was denied.
Michael Skakel is a coward & should spend the rest of his life in jail, but sadly he'll will only have to serve another 10 yrs of his sentence.

Twenty to life is his sentence.
He would still have to be paroled, and the parole board could still deny him.
      Which I hope happens repeatedly.

He or his friends stole a young girl's life. If he is innocent why doesn't he give up the guilty party? I for 1 am glad that a relative of the Kennedy family is finally called to stand up for responsibility. They have had their share of grief in their family but I feel a lot of it they have brought upon themselves.
