Someone in an Afghan police uniform killed two U.S. troops today - the latest in a string of insider attacks this year.
The attack in Uruzgan Province is being investigated, U.S. Forces-Afghanistan said. More than 50 people have been killed in these so-called "green-on-blue" incidents this year. The Afghan government calls the attacks terrorism.
Regretfully this seems to happen almost every day.
Good morning all.
Right @Benn
Not much left to say about the two debacles Iraq and Afghanistan invasions. Consequences speak volumes.
Had President Obama not resisted the pressure from foreign lobbies and neo-cons, we would by now have initiated a more self destructive chain of events of unknown ramifications – attack on Iran.
A report by the DOD says the suicides in the Army exceed deaths in combat in Afghanistan during 2012.
Another tragic consequence of these follies. No end in sight.
Hope after the elections we can get our act together. But that too depends on who we elect to lead us.
May wisdom guide us.
and suicides in college far outpace the suicides in the military, what's your point?
@ saywhat,
Attacking Iran could potentially unleash Iran's proxy's around the globe, would you agree?
Yes sometimes the enemy shoot or find other means of resistance towards their enemid
Otherwise we would not call it a war but a tirkey shoot orlive fire practice using live targets.
Then again all our foreign military interventions are not wars but humanitarian missions.
Suicides stem from weak minds in military commandees and our Commander in Chiefs and Congressional eyes and is reason US military branches hsve been given over 150 million so they can fund new pharma psycotherpuetic methods to make one forgat why they had weak minds and be happy.
I would say suicides stem from the fact that the soldiers are re-deployed over and over again with no end in sight in a hopeless war, but hey, that's just me.
The longest-running war the US has ever waged, and 2014 cannot get here quick enough to save some of these poor souls.
Such is the folly and the legacy of GWB.
I sincerely do not know how that...man sleeps at night.
Have a wonderful day all
HIDE BEHIND: Are you crazy? Weak minds? I would like to know if you served in the military? And yes I am a 23yr. ret. Army vet.! There is NO such thing as superman or rambo! NO human being can cope with the horrors of war after multiple tours, some back to back! Wars / conflicts, whatever you want to call them are completely dehumanizing, horrible and we are seeing the results. YES, I agree that we should have NEVER got into these two bit countries problems! And sadly, if M.R. is elected holld on to your seats, because I think we will see MORE troops going overseas! This "NATIONAL SECURITY" interests has become a mundane term, used to keep those making $$$ in business!
we dont know for sure what these soldiers have been through just imagine if u r driving down 405 freeway and u come upon a fatal crash that is visible to u. now how long will u b thinking about it b4 u move on. now imagine u r in a war zone u c people dying all around b it talibs or coalition or just civilians (colateral damage) any normal human being will b greatly affected by it now i cant judge whether the war was warranted but this is the reality on the ground
In a nation where people wete brain washed that "THEY" controlled the nation the brain washed still think they live within thatt nation.
To those who say they do then The Bush administration is not at fault at all for Iraq war but the fault of the American people.
That today the majority do not actually give a dam... about the military aspects of their nation and passively or rabidly lend their support to it is a national fault and those who lead foreign policy are doing their best to continue those policys.
The rize of "majoritism" democracy does not mean a safe sane or stable humane society will evolve.
In the example of US from its past to its present war making has and still is the majority favored culture.
The lies told to hide personal responsabilty of harmfull or exploitive acts upon other than their own majority is just a symptom. of a society tjat is permanently mired in "We the victim.
Hide Behind, what branch of the military did you serve in?
I was in the merchant marines. We hauedl stuff around and sold it. That was before I joined the Salvation Army. While in it I rang bells to annoy people.
I still do not Understand the Taliban and Insurgent Mentality? The Military command will be gone in 2014 and All that will be left is Afghan Security? Why not Wait another Year and There will be no more Enemies? Yeah Right! No more Enemies that can Fall Prey to a Ruthless Group of Thugs and Terrorists? Shot any 14 Year olds Lately?? Tornillo Taliban!!
Good afternoon @Mary@banasy@Hide behind @ronvan & others.
Yes @Mary besides other reactions and retaliation this too.
horrors of war as @ronvan said. Death & destruction all around, limbs flying, shattered bodies, women & children, day in day out. Eyes open, sleeping or awake. To what avail and cause ? We can't even imagine what our guys or for that matter ordinary folks there go thru.
Cant blame Afghans for attacking you Yanks! You bring so much death and destruction to that part of the world. You ridicule their faith and try to convert them to Christ (ever do covertly). You pretend to want education and stability when you really want revenge. You claim to be honest and unbiased but everyone knows you are Israels lapdog.
Time for the US to leave the Middle East alone and let the Turks, Chinese and maybe Socialist Norwegians work it out. Americans arent wanted as the countless suicide attacks, decapitations of US troops, protests, embassy bombings and flag burnings constantly show. I say this as a Canadian who used to respect the US, leave before they nuke you out!!!!
AFGHANS want peace.................no more war
