Suspects at large after shooting at Air Force base annex

A group of people got into a fight with a U.S. airman Thursday inside a gated housing area of an Air Force base in New Mexico.  One of them grabbed his gun and shot him, police say.

Now authorities in Albuquerque are searching for the suspects.

The airman is in stable and satisfactory condition, according to Robert Gibbs, a spokesman for Albuquerque police.  SWAT and K-9 units are helping in the search.

The airman was on patrol in the Maxwell housing area of Kirtland Air Force Base, which is separate from the base itself, when he noticed the suspicious group and approached them, according to base spokesman Dan Monahan.

I wonder if they realize they have all of US law enforcement after them?
Might be better to turn themselves in.

I remember the sound of gunfire at night in Albuqurque NIGHTLY when I lived in the KOA campground on Central Ave. not far from the base (we had a contract on Kirtland). I was glad the whole place had a 10' security fence around the perimeter. GANGS.

You live under the leadership of an African American president about to be re-elected for 2nd term. You drive your beat up trucks with gas bought from the Muslim Leaders. You buy food, clothes, and shelter from corporations started and run by Jewish business leaders.

      I guess you and your i d i o t friends lose....

Wow! What a pretentious load of bovine excrement! How long did it take you to stoke yourself up to write this drivel? And why is it that those who espouse multiculturalism automatically exclude Israelis from the mix of things that must be accepted? They, too, are a culture. While the Muslim fanatics leave their sandboxes in oppressive countries to enjoy the benefits of W. Europe, N. America, Australia, New Zealand, & are happy here, they nevertheless spend an inordinate amount of time trying to change these same places so that they resemble the very countries they fled? If they are so in love with what they left, why not simply return to their country of origin? And why are you so upset over German POW treatment? What they dished out to anyone who offended Herr Hitler was far worse than anything they received. Europe had precious few resources at the end of WWII, & many wounded, starving civilians who'd been victimized by your much-loved Nazis; if fewer resources were given to German POWs in favor of feeding those whom their Fuhrer had deprived for over a decade, I have no problem with that. That you DO says to me that you are a neo-Nazi, that you believe Hitler's making the Muslims his pawns to help kill more Jews was a good thing, & therefore, that you support genocide.
That being the case, you have NO right WHATSOEVER to condemn ANYONE else. Genocidal maniacs will always be around. That free countries have people like you whose right to spout off anti-Semitism who have died to defend your right to free speech is a bitter pill to swallow.

Imagine being a military police officer on duty with no weapon to defend ones self and/or the military public.

Take a bullet and left for dead.

Almost as bad as serving in combat, only to come home to no jobs and no respect.

USAF Security Forces members are always armed with either an M4 with a loaded clip or an M9 with a round in the chamber.

All branches of the military police are armed. Some quite well since they have access to a vast array of weapons, lethal and non-lethal. Saying anything otherwise is foolish.

    • RIF (reading is fundamental)

I know it had 50 words in the whole story but if you focus and read slowly you can see that he was shot with his own weapon. I am very confident they didn't bring there own rounds.

@soldierV1 yep, I guess eventually karma finds a way to hand you what you deserve. Authoritarian thugs such as policemen and soldiers getting shot at when they aren't armed sounds pretty just, all things considered...

CNN keeps quiet over claims against Piers Morgan

CNN was keeping silent last night as phone-hacking claims against the Daily Mirror’s publisher refocused attention on Piers Morgan, the tabloid’s ex-editor who now has his own talk show on the US network.

The news channel declined to comment about the cases, and would not reveal whether it was conducting its own investigation. Instead, the broadcaster referred all queries to Trinity Mirror.

A story published on the CNN website simply stated that “one of the claims filed by [lawyer Mark] Lewis... relates to a period when Piers Morgan, who now hosts a CNN talk show... was editor of the Daily Mirror.

“Morgan has said in the past that he has never hacked a voice-mail and vigorously denied ever ordering phone hacking,” it said.

Just liike a stupid republican to make comment that has nothing to do with article. If your Republican News Network (Fox) had not banned freedom of speech, you could have used your efforts there

I was stationed at Kirtland for 5 years on the more secure part of the base across the street in the flightline area. This was a semi secure off base housing area. The base is one of the oldest parts of Albuquerque and incidents outside the base perimeter happen frequently enough. Whoever was stupid enough to assault and shoot a federal officer on a federal installation is going to regret it for a long time, probably the rest of their life once they are caught and put through a trial for attempted murder.

I feel very badly for the airman who was shot & pray for his recovery.
I know our government has more than its share of bullying by the Government (try reading "Government Bullies" by Rand Paul for the most egregious types of bullying), BUT the base is a marked Federal installation with likely more than enough warning signs. The area in question is a HOUSING area, where families live. This airman was not protecting some sort of Roswell-type US secrets, nor a secret domestic or remote office of a foreign intelligence service. It did not house any sort of Government offices. The ONLY purpose of the area was a place to live for active duty & their CIVILIAN families, including babies in arms, toddlers, preschoolers, school-aged kids, teens, & spouses who have nothing to do with what the active duty family member does. ANYONE who tries to attack an area like this is nothing more than a terrorist, a cowardly terrorist who is too afraid to confront that which they hate openly, but instead must bully innocent families. Such cowards deserve whatever they get once they are caught.
