Head of Hamas military wing killed

Ahmed al-Ja'abari, head of Hamas' military wing, was killed Wednesday in Gaza by an Israeli "surgical" strike, the Israeli military announced.

A spokesman for the Hamas-run government in Gaza confirmed that al-Ja'abari was killed in an Israeli strike.  "Israel is announcing the war in Gaza and Israel will carry the responsibility for killing Ahmed Jabri," Tahar Eanono said in a written message.

Militants in Gaza have been firing dozens of rockets into southern Israel, and Israel has struck back.

The Israeli military tweeted earlier today:

Long is the hand of Israel against its enemies, it is a shame that the Western World does not want to underestand that Israels fight is for civilization against darkness and hatred, Muslim fundamentalists are not against Israel, they are against western civilization, principles and values

You dogs just love war and killing. Why not pick a fight against a people who can defend themselves like Turkey.

Well in actuality, HAMAS is an acronym. The word hamas in Arabic means enthusiasm, but the acronym stands for Harakat al Moqawama al Islamiya, which means Islamic Resistance Movement. I'm not defending Hamas, just pointing out that you don't know what you're talking about.

@Spruce – If it was your family / friends getting murdered by a well-known terrorist organization such as Hamas, what would your solution be IDIOT ??

Actually ... I think HAMAS in Hebrew stands for violence or violent persons (men). This Yahoo! answer seems to be spot on ... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081229031149AAA8kyP ... And i do not think there is any conincidence.

Mere fabrication and twist of facts...and excuse me: Hammas does not mean terrorism..obviously your Arabic is poor!

Wasn't there supposed to be a truce that was just brokered? Guess he was too big of a target to pass up. Doubt Hamas is going to take it lying down now.

I bet his lifelong dream was to become a martyr. I guess dreams do come true. I only feel bad for the 72 virgins.

It is one less recipient of my tax earnings donated via the corrupt EU as undeserved and unearned aid money to far away Asian Muslim extremists. Well done Israel. Please stop the rest of the unwanted drain on my wages and blitz the remaining nests of those social vermin

You are entirely backwards, ahmed. al-Ja'abari, the Hamas "military leader," plotted murder of innocent Israelis with his random rockets and suicide bombings. That defines a terrorist. The Israeli military, on the other hand, acted honorably and properly by precisely targeting this purveyor of death with no civilian casualies.

I spent 3 months working with the IDF in Haifa and must say these guys are the best foreign fighting force I ever had the pleasure of working with and if your interested in knowing who the worse is it would be the Greece since they spent the whole training op drinking Rocky and smoking dope which are not things anyone should consume prior to shooting 120mm mortars.
