11 dead after fire rips through Bangladeshi slum

A fire swept through a shantytown in Bangladesh's capital on Sunday, killing at least 11 people, police and officials said. All the dead were children and women.

Authorities said the blaze burned some 700 closely packed thatched houses to the ground in the Hazaribagh area of Dhaka, rendering several thousand poor people homeless.

Keselowski cruises to Sprint Cup title as NASCAR's top driver

"We did it!"

That exultant Tweet came from Brad Keselowski as he rolled into pit row after Sunday's season-ending race, the Ford EcoBoost 400, at Homestead-Miami Speedway in South Florida.

Keselowski didn't come in first, a prize that went to Jeff Gordon. But his 15th-place finish was more than enough for the 28-year-old to cinch his first ever Sprint Cup championship as NASCAR's top driver this year.

Israeli envoy in Egypt for talks on Gaza cease-fire

[Updated 2:16 pm. ET] An Israeli special envoy arrived in Egypt for talks with Egyptian intelligence chief Mohammed Shehata, who is trying to bring about a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas, the Egyptian government said Sunday.

[Updated 11:22 a.m. ET] The Israeli military killed Yehiya Bia, one of the heads of Hamas' rocket-launching unit, in a targeted strike Sunday in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces said. Hamas did not immediately confirm the report. FULL POST
