Several injured in blast caused by gas leak at Massachusetts strip club

A strip club in the western Massachusetts city of Springfield was torn to shreds Friday by an explosion caused by a gas leak, a city official said.

Those inside Club Scores evacuated the single, multistory building just before the blast, city spokesman Thomas Walsh said.

Even so, 18 people suffered injuries in the explosion that leveled the club's building, caused significant damage to 12 other buildings and caused collateral damage to roughly another dozen structures, city officials said. Nine of those injured were firefighters, four worked for the Columbia Gas company, two were police officers, and one was a city employee, Mayor Dominic Sarno said.

  2. Government Sponsored terror

This is government sponsored terror. The mayor (Sarno) was boasting on the news that he'd clean up the city (Strip Clubs etc...) in response to the 60+ person brawl.

Most people consider Springfield to be located in western Massachusetts, not central. When I think central MA I usually think Worcester and surrounding areas.

You'd think since the June 1, 2011 tornado hit the middle of our city people would at least know by now that it is in WESTERN Mass. Or at the very least the sports people at CNN would know it's the home of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Get a map!

It sounds to me the officials in Springfield don't know the difference between the gov. and Lt. gov.

It's good that you specified that the building had been evacuated, implying that various emergency services were on the scene. Otherwise it would have looked bad to specify that among the injured were 9 firefighters and 2 policemen. Like they just happened to be in the strip club when it blew up. Bad, but maybe not too surprising.

I was watching TV, when all of a sudden I seen my Harcourt standing next to the Springfield fire engine, on the TV. I called him on his cell phone and asked him what he was doing there. He didn't reply. The next person that SOB talks to is my lawyer. I won't have to worry no more!!!
