Morsy supporters, anti-government protesters clash in Cairo

[Update, 12:52 p.m. ET] Two protesters have been killed Wednesday in clashes between supporters
and opponents of the government of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy, according to a spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohammed Sultan.

[Update, 12:49 p.m. ET] Thousands of supporters of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsy clashed with anti-government protesters outside the presidential palace in Cairo Wednesday, driving them from the grounds where they had set up camp.

Morsy opponents pushed back, charging Morsy supporters with Molotov cocktails. Both sides exchanged rocks and fireworks before the anti-Morsy protesters were pushed back again.

It was unclear if anyone was hurt in the latest exchange. Earlier, the Ministry of Health said four people were injured in the scuffles.

[Initial post, 7:31 a.m. ET] Egypt's capital boiled Wednesday as protesters supporting and opposing President Mohamed Morsy geared up for demonstrations.

People angered by Morsy continued a sit-in in Cairo's Tahrir Square after a night marked by violent clashes outside the presidential palace.

Police fired tear gas Tuesday night after protesters broke through barbed wire around the palace building and hurled chairs and rocks at retreating officers. Opposition forces later were calling for a march toward the palace.

After the initial clashes, police withdrew behind fences and the large demonstration was peaceful for several hours. A few dozen protesters and a scattering of tents remained outside the Itihadiya palace Wednesday.

The Muslim Brotherhood, the pro-Morsy Islamist movement, called for a rally in front of the presidential palace Wednesday afternoon in support of the country's leader and against his foes in the street.

    Morsy has been appointed by the CIA to guarantee a pro US Egypt Government which is part of a strategics plan to split the middle East, Russia is already working in Syria to take it over in 1216.

    Whenever there is a change in the leadership in a Arab or Muslim country thru a coup or uprising, US involvement is perceived to be a given.
    What most observers thought about this situation being resolved by talks is proving wrong.

      Why are we bothering with these idiots any more? Pull the troops back to surround Israel & Jordan..park a bunch of warships around and cut off all funding. Let them feed off China. Everyone knows China wants worldwide power & will eventually challenge America. I say weaken a potential enemy. Pull out, cut off funds & give custody of this brat-child called Islam to it's mother..the "HUN" dynasty

    Forming a government is a messy buisness, reforming one can realy be messy, like blood on the streets messy.
    For those who do not know own country history civil war was not only rebellion against central government and many movements had blood in streets.
    Canada too had a rebellion in its formative years that while not so much bloody streets but bloody woods and rivers.
    Americans real political philosophy is to keep blood out of our streets by making it flow in others and we reap the profits.
    Trouble is the we are now international connections over national and the we is but The top 20% who profit.
    The ugly american is a reality but he has had a bewitched mirror that finally has cracks appearing in it.
    Wish Egyptian man on streets luck but he is not just fighting his fellow countrymen, not by a long shot.

    Talk of Russia in Syria is Iranian pipe dream.
    Everyone wants apiece of Syria.
    Turks, Kurds both groups,Jordan, Israel, UAE, Russia,US and its nato serfs,Lebanon and then you have religious sects including christian druze and other wackos wahibi led by Saudi and Kuwait.
    Would not surprise me if every pee pot nation that sucks on US teat hasn.t been trying to get a piece as well. UN leadership sure wants some.
    Syrians no more than yahoos with the guns while the profit takers move them from here to there.

    @ budd mcclure, that is the best thing ive heard yet. Time for us to stop giving financial aid to these yoyos that just need a nanny! Get our act together and let the other countrys do the same.
