Australian radio network cancels show after nurse's death

[Updated at 12:22 p.m. ET] King Edward VII’s Hospital has announced they have launched a memorial fund for Jacintha Saldanha.

"Jacintha Saldanha sadly died last week in tragic circumstances. She was an outstanding nurse whose loss has shocked and saddened everyone at the hospital," Lord Glenarthur, Chairman of King Edward VII's Hospital, said in a press release. "Following discussions with her family, we have now established the Jacintha Saldanha Memorial Fund in her memory."

[Updated at 10:58 a.m. ET] British Prime Minister David Cameron said on Monday that the death of Jacintha Saldanha, the nurse who committed suicide in London after the prank call from the Australian radio station 2day FM, was an "absolute tragedy."

[Posted at 7:46 a.m. ET] An Australian radio network at the heart of a hoax targeting Prince William's pregnant wife canceled the show responsible for the prank on Monday, expressing deep regret following the death of a nurse who took a call from the DJs involved.

The two DJs "will not return to the airwaves until further notice," the statement from the network, Southern Cross Austereo, said.

The company also suspended all prank calls, pulled advertising and ordered a comprehensive review of relevant policies and processes.

The DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, who were impersonating Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles, called the hospital Tuesday and gained information about the condition of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge - which they subsequently played on air.

On Friday, the nurse who transferred the call through to the ward, Jacintha Saldanha, was found dead after apparently committing suicide.

I feel for the family's loss but the reality is that these two radio folks are being crucified for a phone call that the hospital should have screened better. I think the individual that killed herself had other issues going on in her life. Let these two radio folks be already- Their lives are now ruined for doing their jobs because a nurse with mental health issues couldn't deal with her own and off-ed herself.

Their lives are ruined by doing their jobs? They ruined their own careers by doing something this shady. Is it their job to impersonate royalty to try to get medical information that is none of their business? This is not entertainment, I think it's a criminal offense. How stupid can they be?

My heart does not reach out to the clowns who impersonated the Queen.
IF the Queen were my mother, my boots would reach out for their asses.

Honestly now. What would you folks think had Catherine chose abortion for this prospective prince or princess growing in her womb?

Even if ulstrasound images show a little princess, that's no guarantee at all.
Fish from around the world suffer from gender confusion. (called GID among humans)
Millions of children are born with gender identity disorder every year. Many a princess have turned-out to be a prince after all is said and done. And acourse, many a prince a princess confused.

Many US States allow abortions based on the prospective child's ethnicity. If it's not the right color, you can legally kill it in some US States.
Would you agree w/Catherine had she discovered a creamy baby growing inside of her, and killing it? Millions of Americans have done just that. Do you agree with them?

I blame the nurse. It wasn't a big deal in the first place. And then she kills herself over this? What is wrong with people? Get thicker skin!
Maybe it wasn't about the calls at all. Maybe it's about an artificial vitro fertilization scandal.

The tragedy here is that a selfish, suicidal woman ruined a good joke and possibly the lives and careers of 2 clever and funny people.

"As Americans, all of us know in our hearts that a borting a little baby because he or she is the wrong color, is fundamentally wrong."-Trent Franks (R, AZ) arguing on behalf of the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (HR 3541) that would ban ALL US States from allowing abortions based on skin color of fetus.

That a House Bill was proposed to force ALL States to stop allowing abortions based on the ethnicity of the fetus (also the gender of the fetus) is in-and-of itself proof that some States allow this vile practice.

@???...HR 3541, the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, failed to get a 2/3 majority, and so didn't pass.
The vote was 246 yea, 168 nay.
There are actually at least 168 Americans who have no problem with a woman aborting a fetus if it's the wrong color. (not the same color as the father)
    What the?
