Syrian government 'approaching collapse,' NATO secretary-general says

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen says Syria's government is "approaching collapse" and urges President Bashar al-Assad to stop fighting and accommodate a political transfer of power.

Those comments came as a debate was ranging about the use of scud missiles in Syria.

A U.S. official said American military satellites picked up and confirmed the infrared signature of four short-range Scud missiles launched from the Damascus area to northern Syria in the past several days.

The missiles did not land on the Turkish side of the border but "came close," he said.

But on Thursday a Syrian foreign ministry official categorically denied the reports about the Syrian military using Scud missiles against rebel groups on Syrian state TV.

Woe to those in the military that went around indiscriminately killing innocent people. A lot of head chopping or hanging is likely to occur in the aftermath.

Why choose? Why not do both? If you hang them with razor wire, the heads will pop right off.

More importantly, the Russian foreign minister has more or less stated the outlook for Assad led government was now grim and contingency plans were in preparation for the evacuation by sea of all Russian citizens.

ObummerI MadeaMistake, You're obviously dense and ignorant. This is an article about the conflict in Syria, and you're complaining about your countries choice in President. Did you know, in fact, that one of Mitt Romney's policies involved direct military intervention by the United States in Syria? And yet, people still refer to Mr. Obama as a 'war-mongerer' Fools.

One of the reasons I did not vote for Mitt...

He said "we need to find the people in Syria that are not associated with Al Quaeda and give them military support" as if there is some distinguishing mark on them. What the idiot didn't realize is the "free peope's army" got in bed with Al Quaeda to help them win this war a long time ago.

Now that they've made a pact with the devil, there is no going back for these people. I'm no Assad supported by any means, I'm just saying the alternative is not an upgrade.

The USA and her develish allies are mad and perplexed about how to get rid of the regime of Syria. Therefore, they tell a lot of lies! what a shame that American respectful responsibles have become liars. Since already two years, we have been hearing the same sentence. But the regime is still strong and the terrorists of America are defeated. Everyday, the Syrian army kills hundreds of terrorists. The American people are stupid and slaves to their politicians. What a fake democracy that they have.

That was fantastic, Alexander! I can honestly say that was one of the most random, oddball posts I've ever read. Congratulations on your still-evolving work in the English language! Are you going to be doing the style of Gangnam at this point? Or are you that not having time for, due to your interminable session of bronchitis?

Gaaaaaah. Please post on CNN Allah Akhbar or wherever it feeds into in your neck of the woods. As an American, I prefer to hear my criticism from someone who isn't reminding me of Sasha Baron Cohen. Thanks.

what kind of government it would be replaced with?
will it be one that would hurt the Christians?
Recent Leadership changes included the installment of Radicals and the killing and uprooting of most of the Christian citizen in those countries.
the mostly Christian west hasn't shown any sympathy for their brethren in that part of the world for years, starting in Lebanon back in 1975, and the plot of vacating the middle East from the Christians continue

This article states, "urges President Bashar al-Assad to stop fighting and accommodate a political transfer of power." That is total c. There will be no political transfer of power. There is going to be executions, hangings, torture, reprisals; 40 years of pent up hatred will be unleashed on whatever Assad element is left in the country when Assad leaves. Political transfer of power!!!!!!! Be serious.

I am surprised the arabs never learn anything, the only thing that they know is to hate americans, after hanging and executing their own people, they always have to point a finger to americans just like is america's fault to be ignorant and barbaric, grow up and fix your own stupid thinking so you can prosper and make your country a better place to live like america. I love America!
