Man stands in mall parking lot, fires 50 shots in the air

A man stood in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Southern California on Saturday and fired 50 shots into the air.

Police didn’t say why, but his actions prompted many stores in the open-air Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach to lock their doors.

No one was hurt by the bullets raining down, but one person suffered minor injuries while trying to flee the area, police said.

Newport Beach Police quickly took the man, 42-year-old Marcos Sarinana Gurrola, into custody, but not before calling in the bomb squad when the man said he had more ammunition in the trunk of his car.

The incident came a day after a mass shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, and last week’s fatal shooting at a mall in Oregon.

Patrick Wyrick was returning to his car when he heard the shots and, from behind the safety of his car, began capturing the scene with camera.

“I wasn't sure they were real or not. Then a heard another set of shots and then another,” he said in a video he posted on YouTube.

“My wife and daughter were at an ice cream shop in the mall when the shooting happened. They ended up running and screaming with everyone toward the opposite side of the mall.”

Other shoppers began tweeting:

And this is what happens when the news channels glorify the shooter and talk about a shooting 24/7.

If you go to the NRA website, you will see that Wayne says we need more guns, not more attention to mental health issues, not more enforcement of current laws, simply more guns. I'm guessing he would be of the opinion that those 6 and 7 year olds would still be alive today if they had guns. Can you imagine 2nd graders packing heat? Wayne can.

I pray GOD continues to bless America for a little while longer, so the ones of us who do still believe in HIM can perfect our existance in this world to ensure our acceptance into HIS Kingdom on the other side. HE has "blessed America" for so long,...but America has lost sight of HIM. HE said that HE will not strive with man always. KILL THE PRIDE AMERICA!! Your arms are too short to box with GOD. Read Psalm 20. I continue to pray for us,...the US,....The United States of America.

Completely lost faith in this country and dread raising my family here, never imagined that I would be so ashamed to be an American. You folks with this gun control debate are fools, it's not about the guns rather our society as it is today has no values.

In a middle of a panic and finding a place to cover, these two people still find some time to Tweet? Some people really got their priorities straight.

Lazy people are best for humanity! The hard-working people are the virus on humanity, for they have made the earth bald and dry. Hard work will be the end of humanity. Good people, actors, musicians, writers, recycling people, others; Bad people are farmers, oil workers, gas , coal, ....

I don't think this one qualifies as a tragedy since no one was seriously hurt. Still... this is all so out of control. We can't be trusted to take care of ourselves.

In an effort to out do the last shooter, the fruit cakes come out now, each demonstrating one clear thing, that is has no interest in the right of others to venture without fear. The good tax payers are now going to have to pay for this insane act to be defended, the person that was arrested has the right to stop breathing the good air that is afforded to good law abiding citizens. He has the right to feed the fish 25 miles off shore after being dropped off from an aircraft traveling overseas at over 25,000 feet, and no parachute.

But since the criminal element has better rights than the good tax payers do, that will not be allowed to happen, such a shame, especially when everything is on the table and displayed as solid proof and evidence. But then again that is why there are bad lawyers that protect the really guilty and twist the law.

If nobody was hurt, quit giving these damn people publicity. That's all these damn people are looking for, and that's all the news is good for.
