"Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a man, woman, or idea that "for better or worse, has most influenced events in the preceding year."
President Obama was named in 2008, also.
Many of our US Presidents was named.
Stalin was named, along with Hitler.
      They shaped the news.
      It's not a poilitical endorsement.

You can't spell. So it stands to reason you're not a Times subscriber anyway. Who cares what you think. Bart Simpson is your Person of the Year.

Modern Media has kinda made "Time", as well as, their "person of the year" recognition mostly an anachronism.

I would not be surprised if some felt that Hitler would be a better choice.

It's not racist to point out that this one man is bankrupting this country. To be facing a 20 trillion dollar deficit come 2016 and to make this clown man of the year is rediculous. You guys asked for it and our kids will pay for it. Yay. Go Obama!

Yup the election is over. Thanks for the insight. Duh. Four years ago the deficit was 10 trillion. Now it's 16.4 trillion. Name me one president in the history of this country who has spent that much in four years. You can't. It's never happened before. 20 trillion here we come. Our kids kids will be paying for it. Way to go Obama! Man of the year. Just rediculous to say the least

Good afternood chrissy. It is good to be seen, thank you.
I don't understand why people won't just look at the good our president is trying to do. The man is bending over backwards to get a deal, but the opposing forces just won't gve n at at all. The latest offer by Boehner is nothing more than another delaying tactic that is totally unacceptable. The TP supporters (not all of them are rich) better take notice of what their party is tryiing to do. Because if they get their way, the TP supporters who are accepting government help are going to get slapped just like everyone else.

LOL Bush uses a Military credit card for all the wars when the Nation was in the Black as he took office he spent trillions never letting the people know but the banks knew and we bailed them out too! Who gets the blame? Ask someone I read that says, "To be facing a 20 trillion dollar deficit come 2016 and to make this clown man of the year is rediculous. You guys asked for it and our kids will pay for it." that person still does not have a clue!! The GOP left us all holding the bag, even "GAG" master has no clue, we are all paying for the GOP foolz. TOOLS that we are for the GOP, this one man had to enact the first stimulus to jump start the economy again, and even then the GOP agreed with that policy, for the GOP knew they had finally broken the country in two by that time when he was first to be elected by that landslide victory. Man of the Year he is, having many severe foreign policy situations. Had we been run by the GOP, it was easy to see in the debates on tv their man Romney was itchin to get his gun and play economic military, the classic GOP reduce the unemployment numbers policy by the same amount of troops that die in foreign wars, and the debt of those ideologies will not even show until the democrats re-take the whitehouse after the voters oust the gop once again you see?

I think @banasy is right in saying that its not a political endorsement. And shouldn't be taken as such.
In the preceding year President Obama "for better or worse" was the person who remained at the center of changing dynamics where US interests were involved , not necessarily shaping them but being the leader with most visible endeavors.
