Obama nominates John Kerry to be secretary of state

[Updated at 2:11 p.m. ET] President Barack Obama on Friday nominated Sen. John Kerry, the former presidential candidate who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to be the next secretary of state.

The senior senator from Massachusetts is noted for the experience, gravitas and relationship-building skills that could help him succeed Hillary Clinton, the outgoing top U.S. diplomat.

Kerry (pictured) has traveled the globe on behalf of the Obama administration to mend frayed relationships. Most notably, he traveled to Pakistan after a series of incidents, including the raid that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, that had set relations back.

He has support from Republicans as well as Democrats. The nomination will be sent to the Senate for confirmation.

"There are very few people with greater experience over a longer period of time," said Nicholas Burns, a former career ambassador who has served every secretary of state since Warren Christopher, and was most recently undersecretary for political affairs under Condoleezza Rice. "He would be a very, very impressive choice."

@WhiteHouse Press Corp. Ask President Obama what has been being built in the 40 trillion dollars worth of secret underground military bases built during the "Cold War" and the 10 trillion dollars-worth built since. (just to see the dumb look on his face)
WWII president Harry S. Truman wasn't even aware that the military had developed nuclear bombs until after he was sworn in! Just what DOES Obama know that Harry didn't.

@chrissy. Did you see news video of a third gunman being chased-down and arrested during the Conn. Kidkiller affair?
What about both Lanza (conn kidkiller) and Holmes (Aurora shooter) both having dads testifying against bankers in front of US Senate investigating the 800 trillion dollar Libor Banking scandal? Holemes' dad was the man who designed a computer program that "decompartmentalized" the compartmentalized methods certain BANKERS (mostly Jewish, I might add) have been using to scam US FOR DECADES!
If what Congress suspects is true, our entire economy is a scam!

I would like to know where this video is.
I have been searching for it, but perhaps I haven't been using the right keywords...
I said this yesterday: it would be more expedient for the gov't to just kill the fathers, rather than come up with some elaborate scheme to suddenly turn their offspring into drooling lunatics that shoot up theaters and schools.
Which is it: are they SSRI addicts who snapped, or victims of some vast gov't conspiracy?

If what US senate currently suspects is true, your income-tax dollars have ALL been going overseas, and for DECADES!!! 800 TRILLION DOLLARS-worth of our TREAUSURY *stolen* by freaking bankers. Since the fed was invented to do it!
Holy crap! They better "take are guns".

YOUR OWN government made it legal for Big Pharma addicts to own high-power weapons, and Now! Your OWN GOVERNMENT. (AND BLIND FLAG WAVERS) want to take-away your God-given right to kill and eat big game, AND your CONSTI TUTIONALLY guranteed RIGHT to defend your home State should feds sneak-in and arrest your citizens who were FULLY compliant w/Stae law. (yes. For years FBI agents have been arresting citizens who complied with State Law)
A State citizen is SUPPOSED to be able to "cap" ANY federal agent that enters their home without CONSTI TUTIONAL cause.

it's as if they want anyone who has studied the US "C" word for decades to look-like a foll.

@raven once told me, over a year ago, that [the regs] here on CNN "'only parrot what they see and hear from Big Media:'" She meant that most of US only post what has already neen posted ny talking heads. And if you review comments, they are all the same things said on TV.
You, are an individual. Youi are worth more than that which you parrot. (parott?) Raven? I miss your comments.

@raven once told me, over a year ago, that [the regs](emphasis yours) here on CNN “‘only parrot what they see and hear from Big Media:’”

She was not talking about [the regs]; she was talking about people in general who comment on the blogs.
Of course, you would deliberately misstate what she said to further your agenda...whatever that agenda happens to be at any given hour.
It's funny how one feels no compunction at lying when it suits their purpose.

Not any worse than Obama can mess things up. The unions are striking right now. Why? Lossof benefits. why did workers lose their benefits? Obamacare and taxing the rich. The rich man says that's just fine, I will just take it out of what I pay the little man. these unions and their workers voted for Obama so that must be what they wanted. so what are they complaining about? That's what happens when you tax the rich man, he takes it out of your benefits. So Obama has successfully spent you into slavery.

Why I don't know, nor does anyone else except those in DC who support him, so I guess I will just have to accept the "Faithfull Refrains" of Obamas' choir that sing of his glory.

Rather similar to Bush going into two wars that were not funded by neatly keeping the defense budget out of the general budget? Yes?

Ya Banasy, just like a democrat to divert the conversation, Bush is no longer releveant and you said it yourself that America was attacked. You try to make it so much different thanWW2, but in theses aspects it's exactly the same. Hitler had nothing to do with Pearl Harbor, and Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11 that we know of. Hitler's crime was the same as Hussein's- genocide. We didn't enter WW2 because of Hitler and we didn't enter the war on terror because of Hussein. In both wars we were attacked. Now for the differences. In WW2 we didn't join the allies, they joined us. We lead the charge on D,Day and kicked the whole world's but. In this war we have a panzy presidwnt who wants to " Lead from behind.". In WW2 we didn't care that we killed civilians when we dropped the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we were attacked and they asked for it. In this war they want to criminalize the soldiers for not knowing the difference between aterrorist and a civilian. There is a reason WW2 vets are known as " the greatest generation" and a reason that we can't win this war.

The US joined the Allies, not the other way around. We landed at Normandy ALONG WITH MANY OTHER COUNTRIES. The US killed 400,000 additional people in Iraq, so how is that preventing genocide? Bush didn't include the wars in the general budget, Obama did, that's why you see it now...transparency.

L@Dale, actualy you are wrong. We didn't " lead from behind" at Normandy, we did things our way and the allies had to accept that. They used American equipment more than any oether nations' equipment, our plans and strategies. We did things the American way. @ Chrissy remember that next time you confuse conservatives with republicans. Bush and Cheney aren't my buddies, but they are a better choice than panzy Obama.

Please tell me Banasy how Nazi Germany attacked America. Did we allow Hindu temples at Pearl Harbor? Don't forget the entire world held all German citizens responsible for Hitlers' crimes. Noone helped Germany rebuild, noone cared if they starve. So why do we give convenience stores to muslims and let them erect a victory mosque on ground zero? When you liberals get your minds right and realize these things we can win this war, until then liberals will only succeed in being named " the most pathetic generation".

      You cannot answer.
      I understand.
Nazi Germany, of course, did not attack America; I never said it did.
I told YOU the reasons the US got into WWII; that small little island whose name CNN wouldn't let me print.

      How did Iraq attack us?
Stop calling me names and answer the question.
