21 vehicles in accident on interstate in Oklahoma
[Updated at 9:10 a.m. ET] Interstate 40 westbound has now been opened after it was shut following a 21-vehicle accident at 2:50 a.m. CT (3:50 ET).
[Posted at 7:51 a.m. ET] An interstate has been shut down for two miles this morning in a suburb of Oklahoma City after more than 20 vehicles crashed in an accident that the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says likely was caused by freezing rain.
The chain-reaction-style accident occurred on Interstate 40 westbound in Del City, Oklahoma, and involved 21 vehicles, including three big rigs, Oklahoma Highway Patrol dispatcher Kerri Markey told CNN. The accident took place at 2:50 a.m. CT (3:50 ET).
Markey said an unknown number of people have been transported to a hospital with injuries characterized as not life-threatening.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they do not know when the highway will reopen.
These transportaion devices clearly aren't safe. Let's support a ban on Winter driving =)

Here are some simple driver safety tips:
Never drink from containers larger than 44 oz. while driving. Large containers block your view.
Always wear a bib while driving and eating a triple cheezburger. Juices from the burger can drip-down your chest and distract you.
Limit the number of times you turn-around and threaten your children while driving to less-than 50 times per day. Studies show an increased risk of having an accident after 50. (incl. child having accident in pants)

usually the big rigs are cutting me off, or tailgating me on a single lane as I am already over the speed limit, flashing high beams while tail gating...
Big rig drivers these days (in Canada at least) are terrible; mostly south asian immigrants.

American truck drivers are the best drivers on the road. Most of you simply lack the mental capacity to learn how to even back-up a 48 ft. trailer w/o killing small children.
It's drivers with increased reaction times that are the roadkillers among US.
But yeah, some truckdrivers are like zombies. Some are really strange dudes doing all sorts of crazy stuff.
I drove trucks as a younger man working in the oilfield. I was 19 driving a 1964 Kenworth 335 with button in my injector pump (i could cruise at 105 mph weighing 80,000 lbs) Anyway, at this truckstop in Casper WYO, this trucker dude offered me cash to sleep with his wife! NOT professional courtesy at all!! Get these weirdos off our roads. ty
