Lawyer: Egypt's Mubarak sent to hospital for fractured ribs

[Updated at 10:01 a.m. ET] Former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was ordered to a military hospital after a report conducted by doctors stated that he had fractures in three of his ribs after he slipped in a prison hospital
bathroom this month, his lawyer Farid El Deeb told CNN.

[Posted at 8:19 a.m. ET] Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is serving a life sentence in a Cairo prison, is being transferred to a military hospital for medical treatment, state-run TV reported Thursday.

Egypt's state prosecutor ordered the transfer. An update of Mubarak's health was not given.

Mubarak suffered a head injury and a bruised chest when he slipped in a prison hospital bathroom this month. The 84-year-old is serving a life sentence in Cairo's Tora prison for his role in the killing of pro-reform demonstrators during Egypt's recent revolution.

    Look closer. His eyes are closed. The sunglasses and rolex and clothes are supposed to fool the masses that he's concious. In all of Egypt, the "best" story the officials could come up with is "Fell in bathroom!" ??? My first grade grandson could come up with a better fictional story. Look! He's not dead! Just sleeping! Right. He looks like he's got pan makeup on too.

    Three fractured ribs and a head injury from slipping in the shower. And it happened earlier this month. And is only reported now. Well he is 84, so the bones are more briitle and easier to break. Still, three ribs??

    He didn't slip, he was beaten. Next thing we'll hear is how he committed suicide or had a heart attack and died. This guy will be murdered in jail. Brutal reality in those third world countries.

    Maybe he was playing linebacker for annual Guards vs Inmates football game? Hey, I just saw "The Longest Yard"... The good version with Burt Reynolds. Hosni looks like the linebacker type of weekend warrior.

    Mubarak was still better for the U.S. than a mob ruled Egypt.. so much for democracy in the middle east. Lets hope the military steps in again and cleans it up.
