Morgan on fiery Alex Jones interview: ‘Startling,’ ‘deluded’

Social media still is buzzing about last night’s explosive “Piers Morgan Live” interview with radio host Alex Jones. This morning, Morgan says the fiery exchange only helped his case for stricter gun control.

“I can’t think of a better advertisement for gun control than Alex Jones’ interview last night,” Morgan told “CNN Newsroom” late Tuesday morning. “It was startling, it was terrifying in parts, it was completely deluded. It was based on a premise of making Americans so fearful that they all rush out to buy even more guns.

“It showed no compassion whatsoever to the victims of gun shootings, and the kind of twisted way that he turned everything into this assault on the Second Amendment is exactly what the gun rights lobby people do. And it’s a lie. It cannot be allowed to continue.”

Jones, on Morgan’s show to talk about petition he started to deport Morgan back to the UK for expressing his views on gun control, warned that "1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms." As of noon Tuesday, "Alex Jones" was trending on Twitter.

on collapsereport jones is characterized as a bombastic personality but one that was speaking the truth from the heart. The nation is in trouble. Look at the NDAA, Patriot Act, Military comissions act. The second Amendment is all thats left

If the federal government decides to enslave the citizenry, do you really believe that the guns that most people own are going to be of much use against the firepower of the US military?

As wild as Alex Jones seemed to be, his point was to get all of his information on mainstream media as quick as possible before Piers could just nod his head and proceed with the questions that we've been hearing asked for about a month now. Alex easily could have handled this opportunity better and more professionally, but we as viewers have to hold CNN, FOX, and such to more fact-based news, rather than the bias agenda-driven networks that they have become.

Alex Jones was loud and wild but that is because he is passionate about what he speaks. He was just trying to get his point across in a short amount of time without being overwhelmed with meaningless questions abouts statistics which prove nothing. Piers Morgan should not jump to the conclusion that America does not want to hear what Mr Jones has to say. Quite the opposite is true. Alex Jones has awaken millions of citizens to the corruption that goes on in this country. What we don't want to hear is from a foreigner like Piers Morgan with his useless dribble.

It's interesting how people say that statistics prove nothing when the statistics lead to a conclusion with which they disagree.

What is the Second Amendment to Piers Morgan? He's a British citizen. He's a British citizen who lives and works in the United States because were he to return to England, he'd be in a heap of legal trouble. He's the person who is behind the the phone hacking scandal for Murdock's newspaper. The rights of people are NOTHING to this man. Well, they are something to exploit. So now he's pretending to care about the rights of people in a nation that is nothing to him? Act on, Piers, act on.

Piers Morgan is legally a British subject also known as a "Queen's Subject," not a citizen. Only free peoples are citizens, Piers life is owned by the Queen... So you are exactly right, what is the second amendment to a subject?

No, Piers Morgan is not a "British Subject". According to the British Nationality Act (1981) , people from the UK had their nationality status changed to "British Citizen".

I don't care about your background. People do change and change is always good. We need one in the US – Very Badly with Guns – No place for semiautomatics in a civilian society. Lets live in peace. What guarantee is there that a person who was sane with no criminal background will not go berserk and become totally a lunatic and hence become a criminal? It is high time that America revisits its Gun Laws – Must change as time change.

As long as police are shooting handcuffed people or unarmed people any gun control laws need to be directed at the police first.

Piers morgan is a criminal, and a NON CITIZEN who got a taste of his own medicine on his own show. GO ALEX GO!!!! "civilized" and "modern" societies have no use for semi autos? The citizens have the right to the small arm of the day, now it is the semi auto rifle....a long time ago it was swords or flintlocks. Any government that forces its people into being armed 100 years in the past is a tyrannical one, especially when that nation happens to be the biggest perpetrator of war on the planet. ANY person who thinks semi autos are the problem are just ostriches with their heads in the sand. Stop with the Feel-Good tactics already and use some logic...the gun grabbing left are like pms-ing women, no logic all feelings.

I think the media has driven this gun control dilemma in the wrong direction. I listened to Piers Morgan tonight and he mentioned the old familiar chicken vs the egg theory. What is the "real root" of this problem? Why isn't the media talking about the breakdown of the family? A nation is only as strong as it's individual family units. If we really want to stop people from going on shooting rampages, it starts with the family unit. As parents, we have a solemn responsibility to teach our children to be good people and take responsibility for our own actions. I don't believe for a second that more regulations on gun control will fix or dampen the problem. We need to refocus on strengthening our families.

I sure wouldn't want this guy living next door! Those of you defending his actions need to get a grip! This is NOT the way to express your OPINION and only incites those who want to ban certain types of weapons to prove their point. Gun control is ONLY one part of this problem and until EVERY facet of this facination with guns is discussed and considered WE will continue to have horrible tragedies! WHY is it that we allow ourselves the ability to buy & own weapons that have a capability of firing hundres of rounds per minute, BUT, a sawed off shotgun, for "HOME" protection is illegal? Can I buy an old M79 grenade launcher, a single shot weapon with multiple types of ammo? I would only need the buckshot round for defence! OR, like others, that make excuses, why not go for the whole hog, and get the HE, GAS, SMOKE rounds? Where does it stop?

Piers Morgan IS a hack journalist, by the way. He is just another ratings hound in a profession that is full of idiots. Take 90% of the journalists and push them into a fiery pit and the people say 'Aww, that sucks, and I really liked that hot weather girl on channel 8!' Take 90% of the worlds doctors and nurses off the earth and people say 'HOLY CRAP WE ARE SOOO SCREWED!!!!' The thing with the journalists also includes actors and politicians....

What i'd like to know is why the overall crime statistics that Jones was trying to express was never addressed by Piers. Look at it simply. If you have 100 crimes, and 10 of them are gun crimes, but then you give everyone guns, and crime drops to 15 and ALL of them are gun crimes, you have a "HIGHER GUN CRIME RATE", but you eliminated 85% of all crime. It's simple math.

    • Xdoc

So why do other countries have lower crime rates than we do per capita? We are still the top country as far as gun ownership per capita goes. But statistics don't matter right? That is meaningless... I understand the overall crime rate logic. The only problem with that is that there isn't a country on this planet that has practiced the de-regulation of gun ownership and shown statistics to prove that.

I'd far rather know why Alex Jones clearly and consistently refused to answer Morgan's question about the number of gun deaths in the UK.

(for the curious, the number last year was 39)
