Aurora shooting suspect's defense team gets more time

Lawyers for James Holmes, accused of killing 12 and wounding scores more in last summer's mass shooting inside an Aurora, Colorado, movie theater, will get more time to prepare his defense, a judge has ruled.

Arapahoe County District Judge William Sylvester granted a defense motion for a continuance at today's expected arraignment. It now is scheduled for the week of March 12. The judge said Friday he was concerned that the case would be appealed if he moved too fast. Holmes' defense lawyers will have to review a mountain of documents, DVDs and CDs before the March court date.

Technicalities. But what indeed is the defense in a case like this?
Diminished responsibility due to mental illness & being on medication? Which takes the focus away from the crime itself.

If you think he legitimately carried out these murders on his own due to just pure insanity is absolutely ignorant, but so is trusting a media source like CNN. You're all being played and it's sad to see almost no one question the "facts" being presented to them. A young, brilliant, PhD driven intellectual doesn't just open fire in a movie theater, wait patiently for the cops to arrest him, then openly tell police about his booby trapped apartment that allegedly was set to kill cops. Nothing from this case adds up, nothing from Sandy Hook adds up. Look into James' accolades, and presentations he had given and was going to give, in the coming weeks. You sheep might want to investigate who his father is as well.

@ saywhat, These so called Meds are said to help *stabilize* their patients. If this where the case, then the D o c t o r should be placed on trial along side his patient and be accountable to the families of the victims; since the outcome has shown his care of this man rendered a failure !

Well here is the thing, for me! WE, ALL of us, have our "rights" and the opportunity to our "legal system"! HOWEVER, there are just some case's where there is NO doubt as to guilt, especially in these tragedies! Most just kill themselves, but a few are taken alive. And then we are left with a trial, lasting years, as "attornies" make excuse's, pervert and twist the legal system, try to make those suffering look like fools, you name it, in order to get their clients off!
Whatever happened to our "right" to a speedy trial? These, deranged animals should experience the fastest trial in history and put to the very front of death row! NO plea bargans, NO back room deals, just death!

@ ronvan, Unless you get to the hart of the reason why this is happening, this insanity will continue...
Do not brush off looking at these SSRI's as the cause. Even a day of research will raise one eyebrow; trust me.

Mary: Understand and you are completly correct! There are MANY factors that need to be looked at other than just the weapons used.

More time for what? Whoever's defending this murderer needs to go back to (law)school.
This murderer stopped the time for his innocent victims. His time is up.
His defense is adding insult to injury and I am deeply saddened by this.
