"Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America's debt limit."

      - Then-Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in a March 16, 2006 floor speech explaining his decision to oppose a request to increase the federal debt limit, then set at $8.2 trillion
Why would he have such a great change in philosophy in 6 short years? Any takers on that question? Anyone.

@Wax off – I would assume it may have been 1 of the 19 times Bush asked for a debt ceiling and he had succeeded at least in 7 of those. The republicans do not wish to give up something that is fun to get them off the earth when it goes to h3ll in a hand bag, they will be able to buy their wealthy bums off. The rest of us will be able to sit on earth and spin.

How many fillibusters have we had? I cannot find the number. I think they stopped counting after year 2010 and in 2012 they fillibustered everything to make President Obama look bad. Anyone saying that the Senate has not passed a budget? Look no further than the republicans nixing anything useful from the dems. In 2014 I hope the republicans lose alot of seats for not caring whether the middle class or poor survived their vindictive hostage taking of the american people. Bachman did not win by much. The rest of the holdups should be dismissed.

    Good morning@chrissy &@Scottish Mama.
The Party of War, NO and Obstructionism.Filibusters their weapons, making this presidency fail, their sole objective. America & American people , way down the ladder for them.
Every thinking American would have had some inkling by now of what the GOP has now become.
