Responding to the controversy about whether she sang live or lip-synced during her performance at the presidential inauguration earlier this month, Beyoncé Knowles said Thursday that she "decided to sing along with the prerecorded track."
"I did not feel comfortable taking a risk," she said.

I don't feel comfortable taking a risk by going to work today
Thanks Beyonce
Beyonce is all show, no substance. Does she have a good voice? Yes? Is she pretty? Yes. Can she dance? Yes. Does she have the courage to perform live on a global stage? No. Is she a TRUE artist? No. Does she have the integrity of a true artist? No. She is a modern music contrivance. Period.
You have provided a definitive and excellently worded characterization of this celebrity.
LOL!!!! Yes, internet dufus with a keyboard should always be the one to critique someone else's artistic merit. Sheesh.........
The controversy is that by lip syncing she was trying hard to appear to be signing live.
Credibility is lost.
I dont care, there are far more important things concerning the Presidency and politics than to worry about the entertainment during a pony show. – me.
She's a RECORDING ARTIST. We can't really expect her to perform live, can we?
So she lip-synched. Under those conditions, people would have been very critical if she didn't sound good, so what's the problem. She showed respect by making sure the anthem sounded the way it should, not taking a chance in the cold that it wouldn't.
Precisely. If you've ever sung, you'll know that the cold can cause your mouth to move in ways that you aren't intending (no political pun intended). it anc also affect your vocal cords. Those are things beyond the singer's control. Why ruin the national anthem on such a big stage? She sang along with it. It was her voice. Please, folks, find something more important to complain about.
If it was too cold to perform, why didn't she wear a scarf or coat? Kelly C wore both...
That's not lip-syncing! THat's SINGING ALONG WITH A PRE-RECORDED [INSTRUMENTAL] TRACK.
hello white people. can't wait to pounce on a black person.
Hello black person...is there anything you don't use the race card on?
This is actually to Boo. We play it all the time because it just seems that we get dumped on more often than not. No harm, no foul. Have a blessed day.
Duh!
Who cares? It was her voice on the recording. She sang the damn song... not just at that moment. If this is something wereally care about, we need bigger problems.
This is pretty pathetic that this is even news. WHO CARES if she lip synched! She sang what was played, right?!!!!!
I will never trust again...
I'm glad that she cleared the air as this was a non-issue and now the media can move on to talking about other meaningless topics.
Her performance just now sounded mostly awesome with the exception of a few spots that sounded like she was spitting into the mic. I chalk it up to an inferior sound setup and I hope they do a better job at SB halftime.
I basically don't care for Beyonce. I tuned in a little late and hoped I missed her. But first the excuse was there was no time to practice with the Marine Band. Obviously there was time to record the track! She's a studio 'artist' not a live performer.
So cheating at sports is frowned upon, but cheating at singing is ok.
