I'm sure it has happened in the NFL. The old saying in sports is, "If you ain't cheating, you ain't trying."
Why do so many spectators and fans pretend to be shocked when they hear that professional athletes take bribes to throw games, in addition to injecting themselves with steroids, growth hormone, and anything else that helps? Many athletes can wield a hypodermic needle so well that they reduce registered nurses to amateurs.
This is the big-time entertainment industry, not a Sunday School softball outing.
