The U.S. attorney who initially decided against pursuing charges against cyclist Lance Armstrong said Tuesday he has not changed his mind, despite Armstrong's recent admission that he used performance-enhancing drugs.
"That has not changed my view at this time. Obviously we'll consider, we'll continue to look at the situation, but it hasn't changed our view as I stand here today," Andre Birotte, the U.S. attorney for Los Angeles, told reporters at the Justice Department in Washington.
Armstrong admits doping in Oprah interview
Lawyer: Armstrong open to 'truth and reconciliation' commission, not USADA
Of course there will be no charges! No charges for Lance, means no investigation into the whole cycling community. Way to go Oprah, you had a chance to put to the whole sport on the spot and passed it up to continue the mass media's agenda of the lie. Where was the hard hitting questions to get to the truth? Looking at the whole picture is rare these days, no one wants the truth anymore; keep that veil on at any cost!
Wait, so why do all the baseball players have to go to court but not Lance Armstrong?
Marion Jones lied under oath and went to jail. Lance Armstrong lied and investigations should be conducted. I
Lets see, Marion Jones went to jail, baseball players constantly made to testify, track stars are banned. So there is nothing for Mr Armstrong. Interesting, very interesting.
Lance Armstrong has usually threatened and sometimes bribed everyone who he felt could make the truth known and thereby bring him to justice. Isn't it obvious that this U.S. attorney is no longer pursuing the case because he has been threatened and/or bribed by Armstrong?
I'm with you, George. Livestrong sent their reps up to Capitol Hill to lobby on Armstrong's behalf. He was very connected politically and I'm fairly certain that some politicians put pressure on Birotte to drop the case. Or, as you said, his history of bribing might have come into play. My only question is which technique did Armstrong use to get those charges dropped.
Lets just hope he has learned his lesson.
people will start to get away with those kinds of things
Narcissist! Pure and simple. Keep him off the television. He craves attention! Don't give it to him.
