First it was monkeys in space (or not) and now it’s “GI Joe” fighter jets. Not the best of times for Iran’s aviation and aerospace programs, at least if you listen to the skeptics.
First there were doubts about Tehran’s claim it sent a monkey into space in late January. After photos of two different monkeys that were aboard the alleged one-monkey space shot surfaced, Iran media said there was a photo mix-up and, yes, there was just one Iranian monkey in space.
Then this week Iran unveiled what it said was its new high-tech stealth fighter plane. The jet shown in pictures on the website of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has been the butt of jokes all week from aviation bloggers.
“This aircraft looks a lot like an old GI Joe toy,” wrote one blogger.
And from another, “This has to be a joke, right?”

I missed the G.I. Joe era (too old) toys did they have a jet that look like this ...LOL
The new generation of G.I. Joe toys are much more advanced than the Iranian so called real jet.
Silly Iranians...
There is a simple solution, fly an F-22/F-35 to Iran and drop a bomb and see how many qaher-313's come up to do something about it 🙂
Does it fly, or just for display???
its a political lie for the citizens.
no different than the claim of wmds in iraq except the lie in this case manifests itself in hardware.
Why don't you ask the Kurdish minority in Northern Iraq if Saddam Hussein had WMDS.
Old GI Joe toys are awesome, so it's not really an insult to call it that.
They look awesome, but they weren't very functional.
Neither is this.
I still have my GI Joe Skystriker toy from the 80s. Do you think they'll make me a member of the Iranian Air Force if I bring my own plane?
As always: Masters of Deception...
Uhh... I wouldn't say they're the "master". In fact, more like apprentices in deception.
The box in photo six on the cart. It has a cord running to the outlet in the wall and another cable going to the plane.... I have one of those boxes! It is a charger for my.......... 25 year old golf cart.......
I know junk when I see it....Your kid could take it out with a water balloon!!!!
P.S. don't let out the secret's!
A Marine aviator flying an F-18 from a carrier was on patrol over the tanker shipping lanes along with his wingman. He received a warning from Iran that he was in Iranian air space. He radio back that his GPS showed him to be over international waters. The Iranian told him if he did not leave immediately, he would send the Iranian air force up. The Marine radioed back. "send 'em on up. We'll wait.". Not another word was heard from Iran and no other aircraft were seen.
made my day! =D
That is funny !!!!
That's why everyone's "fear" of Iran is such a joke. We can stop their so called "Nuclear" program anytime we want. And as far as conventional warfare or Special Operations goes.....forget it, it would be over in the blink of an eye.
Common Ya Dirty!!!!
I heard it can drop a shoe from 10,000 feet.
Funniest. Comment. Ever.
Yes! Smart Shoes!
I don't think the plane (plastic model) can get off the ground, but the pilot could drop the shoe from his height...probably 10 feet off the ground. So you just need to remove three 0's from your estimate and I think you would be dialed in pretty well 🙂
That comment was hilarious.
Better send the monkey up on the first test flight, I think it's going to resemble the opening scene on
"6 Million Dollar Man"...
Clearly a Harrier-type jump jet. How else did they get it up on that little platform?
Easy. It was assembled right there buddy.
It's in sand ... because it leaks Bullshout!
Too bad is can't fly.
Reverse dihedral wing ? Are you serious ? This has to be a joke, having a reverse dihedral wing unloads the air pressure off of the top of the wing, in any aircraft that is not a good idea
The pilot doesn't need gloves...because it fly's by finger prints....
Do I sense a little bit of jealousy here?
Jealous of what ????? Iran can buy a plane from China and tell everybody they built it ???
Ha, we have long had planes that are the equal or superior to anything the Russians or Soviets could produce. Iran is not in our league and wouldn't be if they spent their entire budget on aircraft research for the next 300 years.
