Passenger sues Carnival over 'floating hell' cruise

Not even 24 hours after reaching land, a passenger on this week's infamously crippled Carnival cruise in the Gulf of Mexico has filed a lawsuit.

Passenger Terry Cassie of Texas has filed a lawsuit against Carnival in U.S. District Court in the Southern District of Florida. The suit describes Carnival's Triumph cruise ship as a "floating hell."

The Triumph was towed into port in Alabama late Thursday night, five days after it lost power in a engine-room fire. More than 3,000 passengers and 1,000 crew members lived in squalid conditions after the outage, with overflowing commodes splashing floors with waste as the ship listed, passengers reported.

    I find that the attempts of several CNN reporters while speaking to guests aboard the returning cruise ship made every attempt to inject undue gravity in the experiences of the guests. That includes the reporter who interviewed the young girls on the deck yesterday afternoon, the reporter on the pier and the man replacing Anderson Cooper on 360 last night. They reminded me of Fox News in their attempts to attract higher rating numbers. Shameful and very unprofessional. Shame on CNN and Mr Zuckerman's influence.

    THE AMERICAN DREAM: To win the lottery and to SUE! "BULLETPROOF" That is how a former employee of Carnival described the ability to sue them! REMEMBER, They are NOT under an American flag, neither are most of the staff, and they use MARITIME law! I agree that there are MANY other items that are going to cost money for those passengers and $500 in these times can disappear in a second! BUT, again Carnival DID NOT have to pay for alot of the things they are paying for! The REAL problem is MONEY! IF this ship had engine problems prior to this, then it tells me that the "cheifs" tossed the dice, and lost, that they could continue to make money, instead of cancelling trips, at least until the "problems" had been resolved.

    Ship FINALLY arrives at port! Children, frail, special needs, women with childrfen, to THE HEAD OF THE LINE! WELL DONE!! OOPS, wait. Did you hear the one passenger who stated that the 'VIP" members were at the head of the line? Looks like MONEY still talks!!

    As an experienced cruiser, they are so lucky this did not occur in the middle of the Atlantic or Pacific on a 10 day type of cruise. Or bad weather storms. This could have been so much worse. That said, the decision to go to Mobile ws wrong. They should have gone to Mexico dock. Moral: always get a room with a balcony.
