UPDATE: The parents of a 16-year-old, pregnant Texas girl agreed Monday in a state court not to coerce her to have an abortion, an anti-abortion group representing the girl said.
An anti-abortion legal organization in Texas has won a restraining order against the parents of a 16-year-old girl, saying that the couple is trying to coerce the teen into having an abortion.
The Texas Center for Defense of Life argued that Roe v. Wade, the historic 1973 Supreme Court decision that guaranteed women the right to have an abortion, works both ways.
"Roe was about the right to choose," center founder and attorney Stephen Casey told CNN on Monday. "This young woman has the right to choose to have her child. I've spoken to her on numerous occasions and she's very assertive."
Who is going to support the 16-year-old mother, and who is going to support the baby?
When I was 14 or 15 years old, a girl about 16
years old in our school had a baby.
Visiting her in the hospital, I was aware that she probably would never return to finish even high-school studies.
Other students my age and I told her what a wonderful life she was going to have. She planned to marry the baby's father.
We all prayed with her. We thanked God for the beautiful baby and its health.
I remember feeling terrible about the opportunities that girl was losing.
It's happened before, they say.
Since she's going to marry the 16 year old father whose parents started the ball rolling in this case, I see grandparents raising this newborn with the kids just working at Walmart after school.
such blatant duplicity...the teenager gets pregnant from invoking the principles of planned parenthood...then you want to force abortion on a WANTED pregnancy ...remember chameleons of liars: your abortion premise, though erroneous, lies with unwanted pregnancies...you're no better than cheyeNA with its human rights violations of force abortions to enforce a 1 child policy...hope people view this case with wisdom to see how inherently evil you are...

Freedom of Choice, if and only if you choose to agree with the girl's parents. Otherwise screw Freedom of Choice. The concept is then no longer convenient.
such chameleon of liars
your premise was for UNWANTED pregnancies
...you're no better than ch eye NA with its human rights violations of force exterminations to uphold its one child policy...hope people view this case with wisdom to see how inherently evil abortion and plan Ned parent hood really are...
Rather misleading, when this is the title of the full story: Texas parents won't push for abortion
In any case, if a 16 year old is able to get preggers, she is old enough to choose either way.
WILL YOU LET ME POST, CNN????
It is her choice; people should respect whatever she decides. Including her parents.
is that your best comeback while people die in the womb??? you needah a court order to live safely in your mother's womb??? c'mon america!
Um, I carried my babies. Don't know what you're trying to imply.
imply nothin, your above statement say it all...you have always admitted abortion is an "viable" option...you abdicate your responsibility to defend life in the womb: you support choice...and now you and jif support forced abortions...so life now needs another qualifier to exist: parental consent. the fact that you kept yours should make you a bit of a hypocrite...you turtle eggs lovers need to stop persecuting the little people of the womb...
I have supported choice. Not abortion. We have had this conversation ad nauseum. If you think your cute little Nawlins witticism will sway one person reading these blogs, you're wrong. Do not infer things that are not there; it is intellectually dishonest.
Stop beimg a Christian hytpocrite. It is unbecoming.
a choice...of WHAAAAT...banasy?
i rest my case...
why are you bringing up religion...life existed in the womb before Jesus Christ was even begotton...even pagans reconize life in the womb...have you ever gone to the museum and seen those carved fertility gods?
Unclasp your hands, get off you knees, and do something to change the legal law if you don't like it. It is your right.
Yes, RR, and as long as their have been begats, there have been abortions. And...?
My comments are awaiting moderation. Fabulous. Later.
Must be using bad words.
Let her wash plates at Olive Garden.
...victimizing women, young girls, and children...!
This is a horrible case for both sides. I am siding with Roe V Wade on this and let the girl and her boyfriend figure out how they are going to support this baby.
I agree with you, dazzle; I only hope they continue their education and not have to resort to welfare. We know how well that goes over, don't we?
sanger witches...you are! didjew kno' that even the abortion industry has even abandon "the choice" platform as a promo...
...i guess you and dazzle missed that internet photo of a baby reaching out and claspin' the finger of the doctor with it's hand during an emergency c-section...
Yes, I've seen the photo; it is a lovely photo.
Do you have a point, or are you just using this opportunity to be as judgmental as possible?
Mathew 7:1-5 is a very good thing for you to revisit.
didjah see the the ultrasound image where the image of our lady kissing the head of the fetus...and what about the baby who smiled when its ultrasound image was taken...need i say more...i'm not quoting scripture to you...you probally don't believe in the bible...you should be able to reconize life in the womb based on simple natural law: if it eats, it beats, it grows, moves and respond to stimuli...it's alive
You do not know the first thing about me; I like it that way. It gives you much more leeway to make false assumptions and judgments about people. Of course, I find it amusing; this is why I allow it.
You are very good at dismissing other people's viewpoints, RR; which is why you should understand when I dismiss yours.
you can't dismiss truth...banasy...your good works merits nothing if you can't defend or reconize life in the womb...are you the loud gong the book of corinthians talks about...doing works without love of god and neighbor...in this case the unborn...in him?
