Suspect in airplane baby slapping surrenders

An Idaho man accused of uttering a racial slur and slapping a crying 19-month-old boy on a Delta Air Lines flight has surrendered to federal authorities.

Joe Rickey Hundley of Hayden, Idaho, turned himself in to federal officials in Idaho on Tuesday morning, the U.S. attorney's office in Atlanta said.

Hundley was recently charged with assaulting a minor in the February 8 incident. According to court documents, Hundley, during a flight to Atlanta, allegedly told the baby's mother to "shut that (N-word) baby up."

He then turned around and slapped the child in the face with an open hand, according to the documents.

    When an adult slaps a baby in the face with an open hand and it is congratulated for it. Then we need to send all of the intelligent leaders and adults to the Wood shed for a "Coming to Jesus Meeting."

    i used to think that Americans are more educated and accommodating than the third world country. But looks like acceptance does not come with education. What is the difference between an Indian who believes in cast system and discriminates against his own nationals, or a south American who believes in "casta" or a white who thinks he is above all just by being white? Why sing songs of praise that it is a progressive country? Underneath that sophisticated suite there lies a hypocrite who does it but is ashamed of accepting it. Everyone knows it's there, but everyone pretend that it does not exist and moves on with life. Every black does not have endless source of money like politicians to spend on these issues. They also have a family to support.

      "That generation"? What are you talking about? There are racists in EVERY generation. There might be fewer than there were, but there are new ones born every day. I have traveled and lived all over, and there have been racists in every place. And, no I'm not black. I'm a regular old white guy. And regardless of what anyone says, this is NOT a problem unique to America. I've seen and heard racist behavior in Australia, Canada and Europe.

    Well, did the baby need to be shut up? I doubt it was sitting there all peaceful and quiet. Given the state of most parents these days, I doubt the owner did anything to settle him down.
