The Syrian National Coalition, the country's principal opposition group, says it is suspending its participation in the upcoming Friends of Syria conference in Rome "in protest of the shameful international position."
After a missile shelling that killed dozens in Aleppo on Friday, the group said on its Facebook page that it "considers the international silence toward the crimes committed every day against our people is, in effect, participation in the ongoing slaughter for the last two years."
I recently turned 50 yrs old, and in my life time I have never seen the United States basically turn its back on the people of any country the way it has done in to Syria. If we did not get UN support then we did it alone – we actually use to stand for freedom – not a bunch of yellow cowards – like this administration.
Now we stand for turning our back on our own diplomats, soldiers and friends when they need us and rewarding our enemies for their monstrosities.
It is sickening to watch how this government has become so polarized that neither party could care less about America, instead they only care about their parties political points.
So, you, Frank Lyon are supporting Al Qaida. Good job. I you ever step a foot in Canada, I'll call the mounties and tag you as a terrorist supporter.
You are right Frank I've never seen it in my 63 years as well.
Then pick up a gun and go, don't send other mother's son to war for you because you think you want too.
What about Darfur over the last decade, or Rwanda in the 90s, or Cambodia in the 70s? The United States has a long history of not getting involved in other nations' internal crises, in situations that have been far more violent than what is going on in Syria today. It's not America's place to get involved in every global conflict. We can sit a few out.
Really? That's the end of the article... In my most sarcastic voice, "Wow, that was really good journalism. I finished reading those two paragraphs without any questions as to what's going on. Nowhere inside am I wondering if there is any information being suppressed here."
Just terrible. I'm going to have to go to a different site for my news reporting.
They just write these 2 line articles to get up on Google search. It sucks. I still think we will have to subscribe to get good online content. These articles are like post-it-notes to remind them to write the article, and not the article itself.
why is the world not helping to stop the Syrian madness and anarchy and genocide ! ? ! ?
Bill, I think it is too busy trying to re-event how to exploit that Country or people group for their wealth. Don't worry, this is a lesson easily found in History It is very sad to live thru it but happens on the chime nonetheless.
Really, never in 50 years? Do you remember Rwanda? We certainly turned our backs on them
What opposition say about the 2 car bombs that killed 50+ people in Damascus? Still blaming regime for everything while they appear as saints?
As Reuters reported this week, Obama's Syria policy is a "failure." Obama's Bosnia unfolding before our eyes.
We could end this conflict in a week if we'd use our air power. I'm not afraid of his chemical weapons- we could destroy those in the first round of strikes!
Poorly informed and misinformed us Americans.
yesterday the Israeli govt issued a permit to Cheney-Murdoch company Genie Energy Int. for drilling in Israeli occupied Syrian territory Golan.
The president of Genie is a retired Israeli general. Surprised?
Iraq, Syria, Libya, Iran the same agenda couched in noble sounding slogans for which 9/11 was orchestrated and the same collaboration.
WHAT!
@if it was
I'm surprised you missed the point. The Cheney-murdoch co that got the drilling permit for syria and what has been going on in Syria. before that in Iraq etc. The agenda, the intervention , man.
God!
