The United States will provide an additional $60 million in assistance to the Syrian opposition over the coming months, Secretary of State John Kerry announced Thursday.
Kerry announced the aid after he met with Syria's national opposition coalition leader, Moaz Al-Khatib in Rome.
The funds will enable the opposition group to help local councils and communities in liberated areas expand the delivery of basic goods and essential services.

I pay taxes. I'd like to know how it will help me to give money to a group trying to overthrow the government of Syria.
Will the price of my car's gasoline go down if Syrian rebels win? Will it be less likely that North Korea will try to nuke California?
What's in it for me?
JIF: You and I are wrong! It appears that OUR country doesn't have any problems with money!? OUR "elected children", obviously think that WE, the people, are OK! MAYBE we want to get some free sand from them or think that by giving them OUR money they will be our friends? NOT!
But @ ronvan,
The USA economy is getting better every day. You just haven't noticed yet.
Let me give you an example: we are developing a new Leisure Class.
See, see?
just think we have to borrow 24 million of that from the chinese and we can't make our interest payments now. The Federal Government is to stupid to be allowed to spend money. We need to defund them and see how that works. But then we now have more people working for the government and on welfare than are working in the private sector so the end is in sight.
Hilarious....meanwhile his boss is telling everyone because of the sequestor all of the horrible things that will happen and be unable to do. Oh but $60 mil to Syria, sure no prob, here ya go.
Exactly. Its all LIES.
The warrior nation is looking for fresh meat.
That $85 billion could be elliminated by doing just ONE thing and it wouldnt hurt any american citizen. STOP GIVING ALL FOREIGN AID!
If you read the article you would see that this $60 million is in addition to $50 million of aid already promised. That's $110 million total (so far).
And what about the American people?
I'd like to know where the Republican l
outrage is.
Well since you are a Dem make your own outrage and contact your representative, since he/she is not doing their job either.I don't care ,write all of them ,but make your voice be heard.
@ what the, yea i did notice the MORE part so i assumed this wasnt the first time. And @ 1608 yea where is the outrage. I dont know about everyone else but myself, im tired of my tax dollars going to all these countries while our own is in such a financial mess.
let's see and Kerry is giving Egypt $190 million immediately because they are in extreme need. And this country and it's people who pay for this aid and NOT in extreme need? Write your congressmen and make this stop .If you say nothing you cannot complain!
Name ONE country that we have given aid to that has ever come to our aid.The military " help" we supposedly get in return is minimal at best.More like a stab in the back to us.The % of countries that ever return the aid $ is minimal again.
