The first Vietnam veteran to be U.S. defense secretary is spending his first overseas trip on the job thanking soldiers and Marines.
At about 11 a.m. ET Friday, Chuck Hagel touched down in Kabul, Afghanistan. On the plane taking him there, he told reporters that the main reason for going was to thank the troops.

If we continue with same old of the same old than we can say farewell to any hope of leaving a better world for our kids and grand kids.
I've really given up any hope of leaving a better world for our next generations. The forces that have been set in motion don't seem to be going in the direction envisioned by our world leaders. There is too much hate and distrust in the world today. The old gaurd are stuck in their ways and don't know how to think outside the box. I think our only true hope lies in our younger generation with their more open and accepting views. They seem to be the ones who are able to discard the old views of intolerance for anything that is different. The old ways no longer apply to this new century.
