Iran confronts U.S. drone over Persian Gulf

Iranian military aircraft targeted a U.S. Predator drone over the Persian Gulf this week, administration officials said. It was the latest in Iranian efforts to thwart the U.S. military's airborne intelligence collections efforts in the region.

Three administration officials have separately confirmed details of the incident, although the Pentagon has not publicly acknowledged it.

You lock on with a SAM(surface to air missile).

In an attempt to intimidate an unmanned aircraft, Iran scrambles their entire air force ( all three planes ). During the confrontation, the drone was able to shoot down two of the planes and disable the third. Iran now says that in future confrontations they will arm pigeons with cherry bombs in hopes of leveling the playing field.

I agree with Chrissy. What happened? Did they shoot at it or what?

    Good question@chrissy.
You shoot it down or let it carry on. You cannot confront it.

It was obviously painted by radar for a missile strike but not fired upon.

Or better still no country should 'thwart' efforts of another country spying on them. Cooperate.

We are civilized we would never offend a country by 'thwarting' their efforts to spy on us, would we?

Do you think they're going to be hovering at eye level? You won't see them. SMH. Stay out of trouble, then, Mary, and you won't have a problem. If you hate the US, see if Cuba wants you.

Any remote-controled fkying thing can be termed a drone. Sounds SO scary, doesn't it? Relax. Buy one of your own; they're available. And I PROMISE you they aren't going to be firing upon innocent citizens.
