Autopsy: Dead adoptee had 30-plus bruises

Max Shatto, a 3-year-old child adopted from Russia by a Texas couple, had more than 30 bruises on his body in various stages of healing when he was pronounced dead on January 21, according to an Ector County medical examiner's autopsy report obtained by CNN.

Last week, the grand jury in Ector County declined to indict Laura and Alan Shatto, Max's adoptive parents.

District Attorney Bobby Bland said the grand jury found no evidence to charge the Shattos.

    If the boy had a history of such acts, shouldn't his doctor have records of that? You have to hit something really hard to tear an artery in your abdomen. That's bull fertilizer. There should be trace of visits to hospital or something.

    NO JUSTICE. How do the D.A. and the little people sleep at night? In Ma. someone would be in jail. Just think, if i got caught hitting one of my children id be locked and on my way to court.

    @ Portland Tony, obviously even CNN knows something stinks if a child has more than 30 bruises, that these werent the ideal parents! Now why they werent indicted? Thats not utilizing the judicial system in the way it was intended.

    if the child would have been an Caucasian Christian American his adopted parents would have been hanged to death, but since the child was not american his american foster parents are let off free, GREAT JUSTICE BY THE WORLD's # 1 LIAR NATION UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

    This case needs more investigation! Pronto! I'm a retired childcare professional who finds it impossible to believe this child injured himself so badly that he killed himself & the parents had no clue until he died! W/more than 30 bruises it sounds much more possible that this is a child abuse case! Authorities need to get a clue, here! Very few people believe the parents story!!

      Any child brutalized and murder in such a way is an outrage no matter where he is from. I am so sad for this child and hope that somehow he received the justice he so deserves. I read of another case with a similar injury and this did convict the mother. They said someone had to of kicked the child while it was braced against something hard in the abdomen to cause the bowel to rupture like that.
