Pregnant? Lindsay Lohan? Internet scoffs

It didn't take long for the tweet to ping around the world.

"Its official. Pregnant..." said the three simple words.

But coming from the verified Twitter account of a troubled actress whose every move elicits intense scrutiny, they were enough to send the Internet into a tizzy.

Shortly after the tweet appeared on @lindsaylohan, it became a worldwide trending topic. Within an hour, it had been retweeted more than 9,000 times.

Was it an April Fool's joke?

Very likely.

It was, after all, 10:35 p.m. April 1 on the Pacific Coast when it was posted.

But that didn't stop the snickering.

Some poked fun at her well-publicized battle with booze.

Others just couldn't contain their (faux) surprise.

Then, there were those who thought that if true, it could actually be a wonderful thing for Lohan.

The actress has  spent 250 days in five rehab facilities since January 2007, including one long court-ordered stint after a failed drug test.

She has appeared in court at least 21 times before four Los Angeles judges who have now found her in violation of probation six times and sentenced her to a total of nine months in jail.

And she has spent about two weeks behind bars in six trips to the Los Angeles County jail, served 35 days under house arrest and worked about 67 days of community service at the county morgue.

She is dating Avi Snow, the guitarist with City of the Sun.

What did he tweet about? A tour stop in Missouri.

    I dont think this is that guitarists problem if she only dated him for 2 weeks as has been reported , so let the poor guy tweet about tour stops LOL

    Oh goody. Another child born with fetal alcohol syndrome to a mother unable to keep herself under control let alone nurture a child. She might just be the richest women every to have a child removed by CSD. Sadly this wouldn't be a surprise.

    This is the worst and most overused April fools joke. It isn't funny, it is somewhat hurtful to people who have fertility issues, and everyone does it.

    Sounds like another ploy to stay out of jail. They lock pregnant black women up all the time. If california jails are so over crowded why are they still locking up blacks and letting this nit whit go all the time. once is ok , but everytime, come on. Does she have some pic"s of the judge?

    Dear Lord, Lindsay Lohan tweets 3 words and that warrants a story on CNN?? it was an Aprils Fool joke! It only confirms how this womans every word and movement is being hounded and scrutinized by the media. No wonder she has problems, she has no privacy or any sort of life. Leave her alone.
