@ banasy: msg received. Did you will *facepalm* to me?
Even before this incident, I was thinking, "it has started."
I hope this is the last attack on established order.
Darling JIF, I only *Facepalm* those who say things that are so outrageous, they warrant one. You are not one that falls into that category.
This country is going down the toilet so fast we can't even keep up with the comments! Now I would expect that when a real emergency is called in the fire dept., EMT's, etc. will have to wait until the police determine that everything is OK!
Just way to many people with mental problems going on.
Yep, guns in America, now medical help is being ambushed, just awful!!!
Look I have two burns (one a three inch third degree on my leg from firefighting) another minor burn on my neck, a stab wound on my arm, and have been assaulted ,shot at at least four times or more all job related as a firefighter. This is nothing new what happened in Atlanta.
It seems that our good first responders are under attack much more than we have heard, S Kel.
The dangers are apparently not just the fires you are sent to put out.
So true @ ronvan. Maybe soon the government will see fit to re~ennact the mental health facilities that were abolished during the Reagan era huh?
@ benn, Im sure youre old brain remembers mental health clinics doncha?
Ah. He is dead.
Perhaps this is what he desired all along.
@ Benn, chrissy, Donna, re old mental-health programs:
I remember the strongest advocates for changes in hospitalisation of the mentally ill as very liberal social workers, union organisers, and similar persons who insisted that I didn't understand how the mentally ill felt about their confinement. I don't remember Reagan's being very active in closing hospitals.
JIF:
First, I would like to know your christian name so I may return the courtesy you bestow upon me.
Second, it was defunded during the 80's; Congress voted on it, and Reagan signed it. I don't recall my saying it was his idea personally.
I also find it somewhat amusing that no two people remember events exactly the same; similar to the old children's telephone game, I suppose.
Hey all like I stated earlier about the assault on firefighters ,well been there went thru that.
Hummmm that accounts for a sizeable portion of mentally challaned homeless person I have encountered on my calls I had responded on.
Oh, yes, there was a sizable influx into the population once those policies went into effect, and the formerly funded hospitals had to close.
Ty @ banasy! I too did NOT say Reagan wanted it to happen. I said it occurred durring the Reagan ERA! And FYI @ Joey, it was the Republicans during that time that pushed for it!
Well thank god that no one else was injurred. And most likely this guy planned on not surviving this.
