Japanese automakers Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Mazda are recalling around 3.4 million cars due to airbag defects.
Toyota said it was recalling 1.7 million cars around the world, including some popular Corolla, Matrix and Camry models. Nissan recalled around 480,000 cars, while Mazda added another 45,000.
Honda, which is recalling more than 1.1 million autos, said the recall was necessary to replace passenger front airbag inflators.

Are these cars manufactured here or across the pond so to speak..Importers have been having a hard time with Quality Controls lately haven't they because the recalls now are more frequenct aren't they!!

possible the airbags were manufactured by one subcontractor?
Seems like its the fault of the subcontractor, not the companies so to speak. Same issues arose with braking system with the korean manufacturers as well.
Subcontracting risks. Sucks for these companies. Do we want to provide more available work for people, or do we want security and QC of our own in-house manufacturing of in-car systems.
8 out of 10 largest car recalls ever were by Ford, GM and Chrysler. Only Toyota (at 3) and Volkswagen (at 8) make it in the top 10.
If it's your car, it could be the first one and it's still a nightmare. If it's your car and now it's the fourth, the word "nightmare" isn't sufficient. I'm going for my fourth.
