No bond yet for parents who took kids to Cuba

The couple accused of abducting their sons and sailing to Cuba will remain jailed without bond through the weekend, a Florida judge ruled Thursday.

The judge also appointed a public defender to represent Josh and Sharyn Hakken after they said they wouldn't be able to pay for a lawyer on their own.

They will return to court Monday for a pretrial detention hearing, the judge ruled.

@Rascal Rabble on this issue you have to concede that these children were in harms way with these cretins for parents.Your argument holds no water

i said regardless of the paren's behavior or opinions about the govt the children didn't appeared to be abused...and further...illegal activity doesn't automatcally mean you are also a bad parent to your children.

And im not talking about their plans to revolt against the government. On that you are right, that has nothing to do with being a good parent. Dope dealing YES, unfit parenting! Guns all over YES, unfit parenting!

The article lacks awhole lot of the details. Like how they lost parental rights to begin with but that doesnt mean reasons werent there. And yea i do tend to get fiesty where kids are concerned. Too many abused kids in this world. And abuse isnt just a physical thing. What you do with kids molds them for life so you need to do the best job possible! Always and if you cant than they need to be with someone who will!

I dont know @ Rascal, i guess i had you on a pedestal as far as children were concerned. Maybe because of your beliefs on abortion etc.So im more than a little stunned that you think this is good parenting!

you keep taking my words out of context...the parent were engaging in high risk evil behaviors...as hard as it sounds, it does not necessarily mean they are bad parents or didn't love their children...minimum screen for every abuse investigation is are the children happy, healthy, and well-fed...
anything else can be unilaterally subjective, abusive, and a waste if public assets and time...as for abortion that is ultimate abuse...as for the hypocrites here, they would easily condemn this couple yet applaud with every pardonable accolade the parents who murder of their unborn in the womb. where is the legitimacy in that?

It's totally in line with Rascal Rabble's thinking. Forget about them once they're born.

I know that, i mentioned that at the beginning of the posts. Thats why i had to do some checking to find out. And when i did then i just wanted to pulverise those parents! They need to be nuetered so they can never cause harm to any more kids because that does harm them. And can you imagine how they feel seeing a gun pulled on grandma right in front of them? Damn

Im trying hard to NOT take your words out of context. And i KNOW that you know there is more to raising children than a meal a bed and a roof over there head. You have to do the very best to keep them safe. And having them around dope and the shady people that are buying and using dope is NOT keeping them safe. Kids depend on there parents to keep them safe and not around things that most definitely will harm them!

And the gramma did not take them by force. The courts took them when the parents got busted and they placed them with the gramma instead of a foster home.

whatever...if parents are iailed it is routine procedure to place underaged children in custody of relative or fostercare for safety purposes...the article alleged abuse and loss of custody as a result of abuse ...however...it failed to identify exactly what was the abuse...getting oneself arrested isn't child abuse...they weren't even doing time in jailed for doping or for guns...so they were labeled as bad parents for being charged and arrested? some dumb social worker made an off the cuff recommendation and the courts concurred...anybody whose been to florida knows a lottah shady hustling is a way of life down there...
