U.S.: North Korea missile in firing position

North Korea has raised at least one missile into its upright firing position Wednesday, raising concerns that a launch was imminent, a U.S. official told CNN Thursday.

This comes as the world continued to keep watch for a possible missile launch by the secretive regime, and just a day before U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry was due to arrive in the region.

It's not known by the United States why the regime did not proceed with the firing.

I really think NK is just trying to get attention now. They seem to be stretching out the drama as long as possible, each day doing just a tiny bit more, but not launching or going to war. Their leader just seems so silly. I sure hope he really don't do anything. And if he does, we need to stay out of it. It's not our fight.

Remember ladies we've been there before most of you remembered losing over 50,000 soldiers in the 50s and now are there to keep the two warring countries apart..We do have allies in S Korea and as friends we stick together knowing they'd do the same for us in time of need...America is there as big brother to keep the spoiled brat from doing something we or nobody else wants another senseless war where nobody wins, remember Vietnam or Iraq, lives lost for what bragging rights, nobody wins there except the cemeteries and hospitals with the dead and wounded right!!

Yes i know @ Pete. But i still think this Bozo is playin mindgames. He has to learn to pick his battles wisely cuz this is one he hasnt a chance of winning. And he should concentrate more on learning how to feed his people!

@chrissy,maybe N Koreas UN has other things in mind like population control just trimming the excess fat off the country that's starving so to speak..It's been done before with ethnic cleansing in other countries and this may be a new way of doing just that, think of it ,I have!!

When a regime like that in the North overtime gets boxed in, isolated , disengaged, turns secretive & unpredictable. With its back to the wall, its people friendless its not just its own failure.

It seems to me that a regime that does that is its own worse enemy...and I am supposed to feel pity for them? The ordinary citizens, I do. The regime, not so much...they started beating their own war drums. They started this whole ball rolling, saywhat. It IS their own failure.

Actually this is getting very boresome! YES, one false step and it could result in a disaster that no one really wants.
Interesting that we knew when they raised / lowered one of these missiles. Woundn't surprise me how many satellites, etc., are watching NK right now.

I believe that is what the whole raising and lowering exercise was all about. They wanted to test how good our satellite surveillance was. Nice of us to let them know.

@ Pete, i really dont think his aim is population control because they have all those prison camps with people to work for free. If population was the problem he would set them free.

Nothing will happen unless China gave North Korea their weapons. If that happen watch for a nuclear war to break out anytime now.
