Senate nixes gun background checks expansion

In a major defeat for supporters of tougher gun laws, the U.S. Senate on Wednesday defeated a compromise proposal to expand background checks on firearms sales.

The bipartisan plan was brokered by Sens. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, and Pat Toomey, R-Pennsylvania. It was also backed by President Barack Obama in his push for a package of gun laws in the aftermath of the Newtown school massacre.

    Where's my shiny new AR-15?

Shut down the assault on assault rifles.....

The government should do more with the tools they already have.... not make new laws that are just lazy knee jerk reactions.

Congratulations are due to Mr. Wayne Lapierre and the NRA. As a token of my appreciation of them fighting for the Second Amendment I am sending them a check for $100 and a check for $100 for my wife as a thank you. Also, thank you Senators, for having the intelligence to understand the cause-and-effect of gun violence in our culture and making the appropriate votes, well done sincerely. I would also like to send out a special thank you to Sen. Dianne Feinstein, for the greatest surge and renewed interest in firearms and weaponry in the history of United States, good job and thank you again.

The president fights for many good things, such as you and your wife's right to be gay married, Joyce. One of the things he didn't do is try to repeal the 2nd. You should be better acquainted with what he proposed, being as you took advantage of getting gay married. I hope you two women will be very happy.
