Israeli official: Syria using chemical weapons

The Syrian government is using chemical weapons against rebel forces, the head of the Israel Defense Forces' intelligence research departments said Tuesday.

"In all likelihood they used sarin gas," Brig. Gen. Itai Brun said Tuesday in a speech at a conference in Tel Aviv. This comes as a civil war between the government and rebels rages across Syria - which borders Israel.

Analysts believe the Syrian government may have one of the largest stockpiles of chemical weapons in the world. The supply is believed to include sarin, mustard and VX gases, which are banned under international law. Syria has denied the allegation.

Whether chemical weapons were used or not, propaganda is insistently urging the USA toward military involvement. However, the USA's utility for intervention of behalf of the rebels is not stated.
One despises being manipulated. How is it to our advantage to overthrow the Syrian government?

You're becoming practical a little late. How was Clinton's aggressive moral interventionism in Somalia or Kosovo in US interests? How was Obama's toppling Qadafi and creating an Al Qaeda state in Libya in US interests? Advantage to the US has little to do with US foreign policy.

WHY would "they" (Israel) lie? If you think that the Israelis are very eager to replace Assad's regime with a pro-Iranian Islamic extremist one which is already accused in having ties with Al Qaeda - you're badly mistaken.

And now that Jordan has allowed them to use its air space to attack Syria, this was expected.

    Oh c'mon@ Thinker23.
This lie was tried before by Israel and we went along foolishly, later retracting that assumption.

Replacing Assad & then Bashar has always been what Israel wanted in tandem with the Saudis.

For holding on to Golan & attack Iran this was a prerequisite. Unfortunately for them things spiraled out of control and Syria was split open for all & sundry to join the 'rebellion'.

Due to sequestration we have no money and herewith recuse ourselves from all global conflicts and national defense activities while we downsize our ranks, cancel contracts, and mothball equipment. That is all.
